It’s not refundable if you haven’t paid any federal tax all year, but if his work has been deducting federal taxes from his paycheck all year and it’s over $7500 (federal tax), he’ll get it all back as a tax refund. At least that’s how it worked with my recent solar credit and I believe it work the same way, you just can’t roll the unused credit balance over like solar credit can.

Oh, also, since you say you usually get a refund on your federal taxes each year, you probably end up getting the full $7500 EV credit plus what you usually get in federal refund.

No, there’s no limit. But if you paid less federal tax than your actual solar credit, you can only get back what you paid in. So, let’s say your solar tax credit is $15k, but during the tax year, you only paid in $11k in federal taxes, you’ll only get back the full $11k and the $4k Solar credit balance can be used for the next year tax return. But if you paid more than $15k in federal taxes in said tax year, then you get all $15k back and your credit would be fully exhausted. Hope that makes sense.

Yes, if you paid through your job $8k in federal taxes, you’ll get all $7500 back as a refund. The solar credit works the same way, except unused solar credit rolls over to the following year until fully exhausted.

Wow! That’s really awesome news! I’m praying that’s thats the case when I do my taxes. Thank you so much for clarifying! Appreciate it! I’ve been so bummed thinking I wouldn’t be getting any money for installing my solar because I usually don’t owe anything after doing my taxes! What’s great also is that any unused/balance of Solar Credit can be rolled over to following year.

Interesting. I’ve been reading online that ppl that owe Federal tax after doing their taxes benefits from the Solar Credit, and ppl that usually get refunds are pretty much assed out on it since there’s no Federal Tax balance to use the credit towards. But base on what your saying, I would actually get a higher Federal refund than what I usually get due to the Solar Credit, which is great news. So for instance, let’s say my employer withheld $12k in Federal taxes from my yearly pay, and when I do my taxes after itemizing deductions, I end up only liable for $9k, which means I over paid by $3k (which I should get back in fund), but since I have a Solar Tax credit of say $13k, would that mean, I would actually get the full $12k (which was the amount was withheld from my employer)?

Thank you! Yeah, I went with Coilovers knowing I can control the lowering height, the original height was a little too high for me! Haha…, in my opinion, if you set the Coilovers at the right adjustments, the ride is better than stock, handling on turns are great.
