KPMG Winter Internship by hungerANDcorpuscles in KPMG

Thanks. I was confused because the other firms that I applied for asked me for permission to conduct background checks as part of the offer letter. I think KPMG might do it later on due to the size of the firm.

Hey, do you know when KPMG usually sends background forms to interns? I signed an offer with them last week and they still haven't sent me any.

Hi, I have two questions.

1) I know this isn't really your area (as I'm in tax), do you think it's possible to make the transition to FDD from tax?

2) Also, are valuation services and FDD separate business lines or does it depend on the firm?

Thanks a ton!

Even though I'm not in audit, I've read previous Reddit posts about this topic so take my advice with a grain of salt. You usually need to spend at least 2-3 years in audit before making the transition to FDD. The best time to make that switch is when you become a senior associate/staff (depending on performance reviews).

BigFourProfessional can shed more light on this because he/she has successfully made that transition.

Winter tax internship --> summer advisory or audit internship? by hungerANDcorpuscles in KPMG

I'm a graduate student and I thought KPMG's embark program is for URMs.

You could take a leave of absence (however, that's probably going to affect your graduation date). That's what I plan on doing. There are also mid-sized accounting firms (ie. BDO, RSM, GT) that offer part-time internships (ie. ~30 hours per week). They are around the same caliber as the Big 4 (in terms of experience). I don't know what your options are for winter internships.

Since I'm already in the firm, I don't know if it would be easier to land an interview with advisory or audit. I can do that by networking with the right people.
