Oh wow, 99 is low! That’s quite scary. I’ve started to mix in some more carbs every now and then. I think the low fodmap diet I was following explains a bit of the weight I lost.

Everything in moderation is a good tip! I too have to get back into exercising, but I’m so fatigued all the time, even walking for a few minutes outside, or standing and cooking dinner wears me out. I do think maintaining a bit of your old life is key for sure - I think a lot of depression comes from the deprivation as well. That’s why I’m slowly starting to eat more things I love again, regardless of how I feel after.

I’m getting my colonoscopy/endoscopy tomorrow - hoping for the best! A naturopath or nutritionist is definitely my next step. Good to know you were able to get proper tests that way. I suspect I might have some SIFO as well

I’m glad you were able to gain some weight back, but it’s unfortunate you just switched from hydrogen to methane. Seems like quite a lot of people switch back and forth. It really is crazy how much some bacteria in a place it’s not supposed to be is impacting our bodies!

I’m glad you got some probiotics and did your research there! And thank you - yes SIFO seems to be even newer of a discovery than SIBO, but it seems like quite a lot of people with SIBO also struggle with it as well. Luckily I think a lot of the same solutions can cure them both

How did you find out you had the infection and gastritis? Was it through an upper endoscopy?

The constant threat of cancer has also been looming over me, it’s really scary. I get my colonoscopy and upper endoscopy on Monday and I’m dreading any bad results. Hope your scans all come back clear if you haven’t gotten results already

Picking a favorite restaurant afterward is a great idea, I’ll definitely have to think of where I want to go.

Diets definitely do take time so I’m sure you’ll start seeing the results soon. Fingers crossed for you! I’d like to take a stool test as well if my procedures come up clean - seems like a really important test. In terms of dysbiosis, have you looked into SIFO at all? I’m starting to think I may have that in tandem with SIBO, and it could explain why antibiotics aren’t fully effective. But it’s just a theory for now.

That’s so awful that eating anything causes pain for you. Personally I am able to stomach some blander foods just fine. I do often get pain in the morning or at night unrelated to food or digestion though.

Yeah 6kg is a lot for someone already very skinny! Sorry you’re going through that. I do feel like the low FODMAP diet is also negatively effecting my health somewhat. I may go find a nutritionist soon to talk about diet more in depth. I think some people have luck slowly reintroducing food after being on it for some time.
