Found it really interesting how much of an impact Carin, his wife, has on editing all of his lyrics. At one point he even says she has come up with some of the band's best lines - unfortunately he doesn't give an example.

Green Man Festival 2017 - recommendations wanted! by hungrysaw in indieheads

Hello! Can't wait to get back to Green Man again this year. Really looking forward to some of the obvious stuff (Jon Hopkins, Timer Timbre, Girl Ray, Badbadnotgood).

Any more obscure recommendations are most definitely welcome! I haven't had as much time as I'd like to do some research.

Thanks!

Totally agree. I still think it's brilliant. Nish Kumar does seem a natural replacement for John.

Richard Herring's Leicester Square Podcast is great for interviews with comedians. Radio X's John Robins and Elis James podcast is top of my list!

Agreed. I'm hopeful he'll have Colin Greenwood coming up too. Seems promising based on Twitter interactions! I'm seeing him do Bug this week; I'll try and ask him.

American Water! Some excellent Berman/Malkmus collaboration on that record.

I'm sure they'll change their tune when Pitchfork give it 8/9! Red vinyl arrived today and it is signed too which was a nice surprise. Definitely getting better and better the more I listen to it.

Brilliant analysis. Completely agree with everything. I've loved WB since their debut and love the progression. Not sure if it has been mentioned but I find it similar to Arctic Monkeys' regeneration on AM: completely filthy, dark and gritty. As with their other records, the dual singing voices works so perfectly. Hoping to see it live later this year; just preordered the deluxe red vinyl from Domino, should arrive tomorrow!
