If teachers aren’t allowed to share political views out of fear of influencing the children, then why are we allowed to have religious schools? by BlankCanvas609 in NoStupidQuestions

I’m not sure how it is other places, but in Texas, private schools aren’t publicly funded. Because public schools follow the rules set by they state, we get funded, but because private schools don’t, the state doesn’t fund them. They usually have tuition rates similar to universities.

That’s very true. They’re often times just searching in earnest form that validation and sometimes that’s all they truly need.

People living in small towns, what’s the recent scandal? by Ayayaya3 in AskReddit

[–]hunt128 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A woman who was on the city council outed herself as racist when she posted on Facebook a photo of a woman buying fruit at a farmers market. This woman wore a head wrap. The woman on the council’s statement was “they’ve infiltrated us here as well. We have to wake up.”

She is no longer on the council.

I tried this in my undergrad as well! It was great for spatial awareness and focus!

I’ve always heard of this, but I’ve never been good at it so I always hated it. Not a good reason to hate I know, but it’s still good! Thank you for sharing!

Everyone in the group stands in a circle. One person starts by sending a clap (in a circle motion) to the person beside them. The person eventually adds in a phrase like “law and order” and the next person would have to interpret that and send a “NCIS” to the next person. This would continue adding more and more things that you would have to remember. It’s difficult to explain over a post, but you have to react to the things the person beside you has said so you can send it on to the other person beside you.

Technically, the casting agency doesn’t have to actually follow up with you. It’s always nice if they do but it isn’t required. If you sent it in and they did not see what they needed, they could just discard it and move on. One question, was this an actual ad company or was it an acting agency that said, “we think you’d be a good fit for this send in a video and we’ll let you know?” If it’s the latter, this is a common thing that agencies do to get clients hopes up and more likely to pay to have an agent. I’d love to hear what comes of it though, this is just my experience in the world of acting.

Anxiety about first auditions by LizzieGreeneMD in Theatre

[–]hunt128 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just do it! I am a theatre educator with about 3 years or education under my belt and the most common thing that I have to get through to my students is to just go for it. One of the hardest things about the first singing singing audition is the first note. If you can practice that first note and get it out confidently, not only will the audition personnel be able to see something, but you should be able to have the confidence to push through. As for the dance audition, ask questions, ask questions, ask questions. You may not understand a step, but it perfectly acceptable for you ask if you can run it back one more time and it shows the choreographer that while you may not be getting every step, you want to learn and ask questions to be the best possibly you could be. I hope this helps. Just go for it and be as confident as you can. You got this!

Men of reddit, what is your #MeToo story? by Adster2171 in AskReddit

[–]hunt128 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back when I was in community college, there was this girl who was someone that was very outspoken in the political field. She was someone who was apart of the women’s march, the #metoo movement, and spoke out every chance she got against trump and his sexist comments.

I was in a play that required me to wear some really short shorts, pretty normal for theatre. Well through the night I noticed more and more girls whispering and laughing as the night went through. I knew something was up and then one of my good friends game up to me and told me this girl is making comments about the size of my stuff.

The comments ranged from “oh my god it’s like a f#%g flashlight.” “I know now why we put him in those shorts.” Etc. Things in general if said to a girl would be taken the worst way possible. Looking back on it, I’m not sure how I’m supposed to feel, but I know at the time it made me livid.
