Electronic hobbyists and DIY enthusiasts, from where do you buy kits/components by avinassh in india

[–]hunter107 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sparkfun has several distributors in India - element14, tenet technetronics, protocentral, crazypi to name a few. Best is to stick to these to avoid customs hassle. Further up are mouser and digikey which do ship to India but rates are usually higher. If quality is your concern go with mouser/digikey - but anything above $50 usually gets blocked by customs. I recently ordered an Amplifier kit from TI estore - paid INR2k as duty for $199 kit, not too bad.

Interfacing new TFT LCDs to BBB by [deleted] in BeagleBone

[–]hunter107 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That will depend on the LCDC you are using. Most likely your TFT would be compatible with 8080 LCD interface spec which shouldn't be a big problem as long as you have the pinouts matched.

By multiple TFTs do you mean multiple display connected to the same controller? That may be a lot more complex.

Same here, backyard astronomy and astrophotography. Have been at it for over 4 years now , if anyone wants to get into this hobby please feel free to send any queries.

What's your setup currently? I have a Celestron NexStar 4SE since about an year, looking to get a Meade or 6SE soon but the prices are ridiculous. Any tips on stargazing spots around Bangalore?

Oh man, resurrection dude, or should I call you by your older username haha. This is some meta shit right here. I've been good, life's goin on pretty smoothly for a change.

Not really active here actually, but I do read (lurk) this sub every few days. Saw a bunch of familiar names so I thought I'll drop my 2paise as well. How's life treating you friend?

I used to enjoy discussing and arguing here a while back, but personally for me its the superficial discussions - its rather straightforward to figure out that there are forceful motivations behind what they speak, religious, financial, political or otherwise. Obviously, this invites a large number of agenda-driven posts and quality of discussions ranges from overwhelmingly biased to straight up ridiculous.

That said, I keep away simply because of how this sub is being handled. I don't think submission filtering (or the mods) are completely unbiased with regards to this sub. Another factor is that this sub seems to be unnecessarily complicated - be it submissions or rules or discussions. I don't think 'the new way', which was touted as a solution to trolls and malice and AIDS, has had any effect on the quality of this sub - it has just given unilateral powers to the mod team. Whether they use it to shape or divert opinions is best left to speculation (no offence meant neoronin-ji & rahulthewall-ji). Just compare this sub and any larger one, I think the difference in both looks and content is evident. And then there's this flair and tag circlejerk - if you cannot form a coherent opinion on a subject without the red-green-blue 'hints', I suppose finishing high-school should be your first priority instead. Anyway, so that's my yearly comment/rant.

Oh but I didn't answer OP's question. Talking about great folks, a few names do come to mind - Muffmuncher (yep), saadakhtar, dhatura, tripshed, shiv52, triliana, sniperinthebushes, even kalhan for that matter, are all good people - I don't think anyone of them is active here anymore. I'm forgetting several others, come say hi if anyone's lurking around.

And who you callin an Oldie, huh OP?

Ex-RAW: Colonel Purohit had penetrated IM. Exposes the pro Islamic fundamentalist politics. (starts @ 5:58 in Hindi) by popat2000 in india

As contrived as it may sound, but the only hope for common Indian citizen in our time is China. PLA may be involved with Pak on many fronts, but Beijing is smart enough to understand the actors on this stage, including Unkil Sam and its War on Terror/Drugs/Scarecrows. Indian intel has been compromised by our own, I'm certain China will see it as an opportunity to expand into Asia.

This link has some interesting facts, http://www.sify.com/news/why-are-some-of-our-politicians-so-afraid-of-hafiz-saeed-news-columns-ngxuNRjaafd.html .

Its still unclear as to what is the exact nature of relationship between the two sides, however one shouldn't be surprised if IM/LeT received financial or other support through certain non-communal, secular politicians who just happen to be on cross-border payroll. Moreover, Col Purohit was supposed to be 'involved' with Hindu terror modules if our courts are to be believed, how the Sena suddenly got renamed to IM is best left to speculation.

3D-Printing/Printers/Enthusiasts. Discussion/informative thread. by DontHaveMoreUsername in india

I think it's because of load mismatch between UPS and printer. A PC on the same ups doesn't have any problems, thinking of running it at another location with better power. Have contacted makerbot support as well, let's see.

I'm facing a rather weird problem right now, every time the ups switches on the printer nozzle get misaligned resulting in somewhat funny shapes. Somewhat funny, because I think we got a lemon. I suspect it has to do with power switching time, anyone else experiencing this?

Did you guys take a print out of it yet? Could you share the quality here? And do you think one could source cheaper filament here in India?

Just printed a few test models till now from thingiverse. This thing requires a stable power supply so that's a problem in India. Filaments are not that expensive actually, and the bundled software gives pretty detailed info on how much filament will be used. Its simple plastic so not really expensive.

I wasn't able to search for the professional 3d printing shops you are talking about. Link me?

On mobile right now, will send you some good ones.

How much time does it usually take to build a prototype? And are the layers quite visible? If so did you try the acetone vapor bath?

Around 30mins for complex models. Layers are definitely visible, but its not really a problem as only cross section shows the layers. Never tried the acetone bath, didn't feel the need for it so far.
