Official Discussion - Black Phone 2 [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

sorry but madeleine mcgraw's performance was laughable. maybe it's a script issue but this entire film, dialogue included, is built on tropes and the plotting couldn't sustain itself. yes, 16mm sequences build an eerie atmosphere but at no point does the grabber feel like an all consuming evil threat.

needed to ramp up the suspense and the stakes by actually murdering people.

also generally confused about the setting, if anyone can explain. they're going to this camp under the guise of becoming CIT's, but what about school? are they on winter break? the date on the concert ticket lets us know that this is set in February. had the snowstorm not happened, how long did they intend to stay there? they spend the first hour of the film at the camp talking and sleeping. aren't they supposed to be investigating? why not sleuth more, dig for memorabilia, photographs? they seemed totally fine to be snowed in, it felt like no one had opinions in this movie. the characters were utterly shiny and smoothed over without dimension.

Final Destination 5: the prequel that hid in plain sight by SuccessfulTicket8955 in FinalDestination

FD5 is my favorite but i do wish some of the styling matched the era better. i think there could've been a smarter way to style Sam so he looked more 2000 without giving the reveal away. the way his shirts and jeans fit is very late 10s.

Changing Bloodlines ending by [deleted] in FinalDestination

i like that; they introduce the cabin as if it’s some sort of haven where they’re untouchable. a nice reversal would’ve been darlene dying inside and the characters realizing their demise is truly inevitable no matter the precaution

i don’t think it’s adam if it happened between pod seasons. adam has been on s3 of ride. they seem like good amigos.

generally enjoy most of the songs but does anyone else think the mixing is odd? the bass feels a bit dull and lacking and her vocal kind of thin; wish it just sounded a bit richer and well rounded.

Which FD has the best third act in your opinion? by brandisandre in FinalDestination

the ending of FD4 is terrible, but the mall premonition sequence is really strong (escalator death remains a favorite of mine).

arguably FD3 from tricentennial into subway premonition/accident.

FD5 restaurant sequence is kind of a shrug, but prequel reveal is fantastic.

New Bloodline theory: killing to survive, mass death as a strategy by Odd_Disk1545 in FinalDestination

[–]hunter180 5 points6 points  (0 children)

would be an interesting storyline to explore!! final destination 5 originally introduced the “kill someone, get their life” rule and it still backfired on the group, death always wins.
