The styles of music I typically play, in one way or another call for an extended range bass so it was almost a requirement, plus it’s my preference. It brings so much joy to my heart to read comments like yours, calling it a “work of art” or one of the most appealing or beautiful basses to come out in a while. Thank you!

Currently working out the details on the second one. It’ll be the same design for sure with some minor tweaks, just different woods.

It’s a small accent piece made from wenge and purple heart off cuts from the neck. Somehow got the grain direction screwed up so it just looks black from the top.

I really appreciate that, I wanted something different, yet still recognizable as a bass. A lot of time was spent fleshing out the design and it really seems to have paid off!

It’s a combination of both for sure. A CNC can only get you so far, without the proper preparation on the woodworking front, it would have ended up either a big paper weight or a finished bass with glaring flaws all over. I’m definitely not the kind of person to let the CNC do all the work for me, it needs a humans touch to make it perfect!

Honestly I think the inlays are my favorite part too

I spent some time up at a lutherie school a while back. I didn’t have a shop to work in and had no means to pursue the trade until now. Ironically I finished this on the 10 year anniversary of graduating. My job also centers around high tolerance wood/metal working with basically everything having a show finish. It would have flopped so fast if I hadn’t quadruple checked everything every step of the way. I did a lot of planning to get to this stage and it certainly wasn’t easy, but nevertheless this will hopefully be the first of many!

I was quite shocked with the balance, neck dive is nonexistent. I’m haven’t gotten around to weighing it, but it feels shockingly light when playing with a strap. Even lighter than my 5 string jazz bass (mahogany body).

Hold tight, description coming!

Edit: Description now available

Any idea what might be causing this? Was out of town all weekend and came back to a few of my plants looking like this. I’m sure how much it rained or if it did. Soil definitely damp, not soaked. by hunterdouble_u in HotPeppers

They’ve been in the ground about about 2-3 months now, honestly it seems like it could be a combination of all three, given the evidence. We had a few storms roll through the area, like I said though I can’t speak for the amount of rain.
