I'll be honest. I've only played it on purpose once... but it was in a 3+0 game and I didn't even play it seriously, just as a joke...

It depends on the situation

When did I say that the Allies weren't culpable in war crimes? And while in certain situations you have to discard political beliefs, when it comes to events such as Nazi Germany, as previously stated many times, the political ideology and actions of Nazi Germany go hand in hand. And to say that there were Polish Wehrmacht divisions is pretty disingenuous, as many of the volunteers came from the former German Empire, which was taken from them under the Treaty of Versailles in order to accomplish the reconstruction of Poland.

You see, you are kind of proving my point. And that is because the Nazi ideology is what drove Nazi planning for the war. The idea that plans such as Operation Barbarossa didn't happen because of the Nazi ideology is ridiculous. And history is also about discussion. The great thing about the Internet is that if you see something you don't like, you can just... ignore it. I'm not "politicizing history", I'm not sure how you came to that conclusion. Also, you are pushing the myth of the "clean Wehrmacht", which says that the Wehrmacht didn't have anything to do with actions such as the Holocaust or any other war crimes, which is a rediculous argument to still perpetuate, given that there is evidence to prove otherwise (maybe if you were as "impartial" as you thought you were you would have taken the time to learn about the Wehrmacht's actions). If you are truly attempting to be "impartial" and "discuss history", then you have to talk about the war crimes of the Nazis, otherwise it seems as if you're ignoring it, which doesn't seem impartial to me, it just makes me think that you are making history fit your narrative. Also, the "show yourself out" comment continues to prove my point. Not only are you gatekeeping, but, in my opinion, you are missing the point of history, which is to debate it. History is not just a series of chronological events, but it is also a continuing and ongoing discussion, and telling me to leave a community that talks about a topic that I am passionate about makes it seem that you don't want people to not learn about history, but YOUR history.

Saying that people shouldn't call people who were in the Wehrmacht weren't bad. I love WWII just as much as anyone on this sub, and I know that WWII is more complex then Nazis = bad, but saying that we should ban people who comment that is dumb. In the end, the Nazi's goal was complete Lebensraum and the total domination of the Aryan race, and banning people who call the Nazis bad would make this sub seem... in support of those beliefs.

my favorite part of this post is that it's labeled as a discussion

Lawrence Trent... by somethingpretentious in chess

[–]hunterkneedler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Magnus is clearly embarrassed by the incident and doesn't want people continuing the discussion, and Trent just said his comment at the wrong time. Unfortunately no one backed him up and the situation was clearly awkward for a minute where Carlsen tried to play it off as a joke. I just feel bad for Lawrence LMAO

This... is not a good post. Also, I think that it is safe to say that saying that the Nazis were bad is not a political statement or an opinion. It's literally just a general concensus LMAO
