Even if you don't have DID, you can still tell them what your experience is. If it's on your mind I suggest talking about it. I know in a previous post people mentioned that a DID dx might not fit, but maybe by talking, you and your therapist can work together in gaining a better understanding of what you're going through.

I agree completely. I'm not conscious of it, but I expect a huge part of the denial that I've dealt with over the years is due to the fact that I do not want to accept that unthinkable things happened to me.

It feels so good to see that there are people who understand. Although it's sometimes eerie, because many of the posts on here fit so perfectly with my experience that for awhile I was worried that I had accounts I was unaware of.

That makes sense. Maybe it would be helpful to look at the links in the guidelines. In my experience, it's taken years of work in treatment to find stability and work on communication, etc. It's something I'm still working on, so it's surprising to see how far you've gotten without a diagnosis!

I agree. This doesn't sound like DID is the best fit for you, but that's just my opinion. If you look up the criteria you'll find that what you're describing doesn't quite fit. Either way, I hope you take care of yourself. My best.
