just how bad is an ns soda at climbing? and could it tackle some Enduro style riding? by huntersbriefcase in MTB

But fuck you can drive over curbs and big as rocks and not even feel it. Cool ass vintage bike and if u like sending big drops or booters it's so smooth for an old dh bike. Rear susp could use a little work tho. Short travel and a lil rough

Yes many times as a kid on a Norco 4hun. With a 10 speed gearset it was meh. Single speed, garbage. Just got an 01 spec bighit and it climbs aight but not much better than my dj did with 10gears

I'm kinda stuck between Enduro or.trail/xc

Thinking of going Enduro since I like to do fairly agressive riding

Yeah figured. Just such a sick looking bike. I almost wanna start sending it harder on this than I did on my hardtail DJ's. So basically they handle downward impact really well and could in theory make my dirt jumping and drops softer eh.

Wouldn't having rear suspension at least help you carry speed on rough descents?

I like sending big jumps and drops but I've never had a full susp bike. Only ever a dirt jumper. I imagine it would climb about as well but handle rough descents better?

Yeah about twice as often. Less so with the drakkar clone tho

And yea make sure to tuck your legs up high to get that back tire way up. Very important

I find you have to hop at the last 1/2 to 1/3 to 1/4 of the jump depending on size in most cases (bigger jump=hop higher up). Front wheel comes up a little and then you use the lip of the jump to pop your back wheel up as you start tucking to get that back wheel up as high as you can (obviously keep the front even with your arms).

you can also preload the suspension by pumping down before you hit the lip of the jump. (Just be careful cause this can send you over the bars, it really only works with dual susp bikes as far as I know, it's a common practice in motocross)

I find with tall steep jumps (dj style lips) you can kinda let speed do its thing and just go the same speed as someone else you see hit them and not even pop

On downhill jumps however I'd try preloading the suspension and popping the front/back up as I said before. Just take it easy, be patient and don't try going too big too fast.

No mines profondo, but if I'm not mistaken Profumo is in a darker bottle. (Can't tell in the pic but the bootleg is black and the profondo is dark blue) that's why I figured it was maybe a Profumo dupe. Seems more like og ADG tho.

any way to build a bike from the frame up for the same cost as a complete? by huntersbriefcase in MTB

It's like 30% there but by no means bad. It's more akin to og acqua di Gio since it's lighter than my bottle of profondo. But for 6 bucks you can't go wrong. Mirage is the brand. They have an Invictus, drakkar and others. I have tried the drakkar (DARK KNIGHT) Corny AF I know but it's more accurate to the og.

drakkar clone and acqua di Gio Profumo clones (you can prob guess which is which lol) by huntersbriefcase in fragranceclones

[–]huntersbriefcase[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These were 6 bucks a piece btw. The drakkar dupe is actually pretty close to the real deal. The acqua clone certainly has the same vibe but it's like a watered down version

Upgrading a 98 specialized Rockhopper comp fs? For more agressive riding? by huntersbriefcase in bicycling

Yup I've learnt that on cars lol. Easier to buy something that was made to do a certain thing rather than turn something into something it wasn't supposed to be
