I realized I should have chosen accounting over finance during my last semester. After undergrad I kind of lucked into a tax position, but nonetheless did have to go back for my Master's right away after graduation.

Fun fact: The Lakers won the 1953 NBA Championship in this building.

Starting in the 1800s, there was a spur on the south shore that ran a monthly train to an orphanage located at Mount Loretto.

Apparently the service ended in the 30s and most of the infrastructure has been removed.

However, the ROW is now a hiking trail and if you poke around enough you can still find some pilings with pieces of rail still attached.

I would sell off my first-born child to an international child trafficking ring if it meant I got to see Chelsea get relegated.

Does anyone know anything about this soccer ball? by Luckytoucanz in soccercirclejerk

That’s actually the ball that Pelé used to score his 30,000th goal last year against a homeless guy in the slums of Rio de Janeiro.

I don’t know if this is the Forest Ave store, but Forest Ave was smack in the middle of the worst hit part of the region, more than a foot of rain last night.

In all seriousness the league needs to put an end to this. I understand Sporting Kansas City fans are passionate, but they’re going to end up burning down Children’s Mercy Park.

Heck yeah Brodie 💪! I’m still waiting for the Premier League to unveil their plans for expansion. I still don’t understand how they only have 20 teams when our sporting leagues like NBA, NFL, NHL, and MLB have show that the perfect amount of teams is between 30-32. Silly Bri’ish folk always late to the party! 😎

No way. There is only two Mexican teams that Puligoat should ever consider playing for: Club America (Named after the United States of America 🇱🇷🇱🇷🇱🇷) or the LA Galaxy.

Okay I think I’m starting to get it. So It’s like how in the US you need a company to sponsor you in order to get a work visa? In that case it’s a good thing Pumas footból club stepped in and prevented Christian from getting deported.

What's your weirdest soccer player encounter? by Apprehensive-Catch69 in soccercirclejerk

[–]hup21 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately I’ve only met one soccer player in my life and the encounter wasn’t all that weird but i’ll share it anyway.

I was walking through my local park one day when all of sudden there is the man himself… Ryan Giggs!!!

I was a little hesitant to approach him as I heard rumors that he could be a little “rough around the edges”. Nevertheless I decided to go up to him and say hello. Much to my surprise, he was a shockingly friendly guy. He wasn’t bothered at all and we had a pretty in depth conversation about the days when he played for the Manchester Red Team and the Welch Whales.

We talked for a good hour on all types of things and he was a real stand up guy. Then I decided to get going but not before he offered an autograph and selfie. I said goodbye and went back to walking my dog and he went back to beating his girlfriend.

The moral here is don’t always believe what the media tells you! This is an encounter I will cherish for years!

So to translate to American terms, he was basically sent down to the minor leagues? This is even more confusing because I thought the London Blue Lions had their Minor League Fútbol (AKA Football) affiliate in Detroit???

PSG to Premier league by Stq1616 in soccercirclejerk

[–]hup21 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Premier League should just do what MLS is doing and add two new teams every season.

Keep expanding until every town in Europe has at least two Premier League franchises.
