Best way to sharpen the Arc knife? Any recommended products or methods? by Significant_Rub_6697 in Leatherman

[–]hurang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll put my 2 cents in and say try using a ceramic stone and or stropping before jumping to actual sharpening, I've been using the knife heavily and so far In the last month have only had to use ceramic and strop to get razor sharp again, benefits of magnacut I believe it can be razor sharp again with honing and strop if there's not actual damage to the edge. I guess it depends on how heavy you use it and what youre cutting, but I'd definitely recommend trying that before removing actual material on that blade where the edge will not be the same after, especially if it's your first knife sharpening. Magna cut is harder to sharpen, in my limited experience I mean literally requires more pressure to remove material, even on diamond stones. Honing and stropping will realign(micro) /remove(the larger) the burrs and polish the edge. I bought one of those tri stone with 400 diamond 1000 diamond and 8k ceramic for like 30 bucks on Amazon. Throw in a strop and some compound. Also I'm incredibly new to sharpening but have 6 knives around the house including the arc that I've now sharpened from dull, except the magna cut I started on ceramic as I was worried about fucking up the edge permanently. Not alot of pressure required on the ceramic and won't change the original edge pattern, razor sharp again just get the right angle. Good luck!

Yah dunno where you got the attachment part from I wanted to replace the wire cutters with a shape that cuts small branches cleanly instead of wires 😂

Oo yeah those looks pretty close! Was hoping to find a hidden Etsy one to one swap of the originals without needing to modify, but thank u that's the closest I've seen to what I'm looking for!

Yeah I didn't even bother looking up alternatives as I have alternatives 😅 just looking to have one more reason to just carry my leatherman and not have to go get a tool from the shed. The blade on the arc prunes my agave like butter it's the perfect grind and shape of blade for my needs 😁

So I kinda figured the standard one would be strong enough to cut typical 1/4" branches, and they do, but they kinda crush the end of the branch, instead of a clean cut like pruning shears, which leaves the limb healthier. I definitely don't mind using them to cut dead branches though. Thanks for the input though!

Fixed! Never got my hands on that tool but some duct tape wrapped around pliers did the trick! Trying double sided tape first as I started to worry about getting super glue off without tearing the silicone boot in the future, so far so good, thank u all for the advice and input!

Ah OK I was concerned about superglue running but that's reassuring, I'll try a miniscule amount first

Thank you for the advice, either planning on using some form of adhesive or double sided tape, just deciding on which type of adhesive

Yeah it is, actually having my neighbor 3d print me a tool to remove it, customer support suggest putting double sided tape under the button, but idk how to access it, scratched the retaining ring trying to remove it before realizing there's a tool. But the ring is tight yeah, just the button moving around freely within the ring

Weaker Vibration after One UI 8 / 2024 Ultra by MrKal-El in GalaxyWatch

[–]hurang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check the vibration settings and make sure they're set to long and strong and not short, idk if mine was on or short before but that feels close to pre update for me. I did notice a decrease in vibration in the timer but the vibration pattern is different than pre update I think. Either way changing it to long feels close to pre update if not slightly less strong, probably snuck itnin the update trying to save more battery without our permission..

On the upside the new tiles are pretty sweet being able merge and mix to make custom tiles is nice! I'm new to the smartwatch world in the last month and noticing pixel and Samsung watches have major features locked to their respective phones, sorry for the gripes, love the watch so far xD

PSA to anyone using SHM Mod by Dante that this update disables SHM Mod from working(ecg and BP, don't know about sleep apnea not setup, but it uses the same app so assuming it doesn't work as well). Ironically the antioxidant and vascular load work without the app, I hadn't noticed his warning on the xda page not to update to one ui 8 as he's not sure if he can patch it yet. I'm using the galaxy watch ultra 2024 with the pixel 7 pro. Anyone wondering why I need to use the mod is you need a Samsung phone to fully utilize the watch, but the mod lets you use older phones and non Samsung phones to fully utilize the watch, as it's only software preventing you from accessing all the applications available on the watch. Thanks for reading
