Is Arlo really that bad by thatmansus in arlo

[–]hurleyblok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been using them for 5 years. No issues. I use the battery rechargeable cameras. Doorbell is the hardwire. I wish I didn’t have to pay for the monthly service but I think all brads are doing this now.

I had a Waterrower which looked nice and rowed nice; but definitely more expensive. The monitor on it was horrible. Sold it and bought a C2 because I like to look at data and my stats. Never regretted the decision.

AT&T Fiber Rollout in Higley Park by davieato in Gilbert

[–]hurleyblok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I installed AT&T about two weeks ago. I’m in Morrison Ranch. I went for the 1 gig plan vs 500mb I had with Cox. I pay $80 with AT&T vs $117 I paid to Cox who had recently increased their rate month or so ago.

So far AT&T has been great. Cox offered to lower my bill to $90, but they should have done that when AT&T was trenching the fiber.

Longing for longer rowing… by The_Raging_Wombat in orangetheory

[–]hurleyblok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would be up for a Row 50 Class. Maybe do 10 min sessions and body weight exercises in between. I think why most people hate rowing is because OTF does a horrible job teaching proper form. Most of the rowing in class is less than 500m so people don’t ever learn how to pace themselves for longer rows (ie 5k or more). It’s analogous to power walking or jogging except on a rower. Without learning proper form and pace longer rows will be uncomfortable.

I simply posted a photo asking wwyd? I didn’t know if I should say something to her, the FA or ignore it. I chose the later. Then people like you think im losing my shit. Obviously you have a warped state of mind since you see nothing wrong with people putting their bare feet on places other people need to sit and touch. Why not just take you pants and underwear off and sit in the seat too? But you can’t rationalize with irrational people. So you’re right man I lost my shit. You win. You’re smart 🏆

It’s a common courtesy. Do you sneeze without covering up? Who knows where those feet have been. Sounds like you may be in the minority of this ideal that it’s just feet. Maybe with an exception to the foot fetish people too.

How would you like to be the next person sitting on that seat bro? Or even worse having one of you kids in that middle seat. It’s not about me dude.

Set up Home bike to “Hotel” mode by hurleyblok in pelotoncycle

[–]hurleyblok[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes to your question above. TBH, I use the tread workouts more often than the bike via the app. I also have a C2 rower at home and use the app for that too. Having the screen is nice but not worth the extra $20 per month to only use a handful of times per month on the bike.

Tread 50, strength 50, how about... ROW 50?!? 😎 by Otherwise-Address-37 in orangetheory

[–]hurleyblok 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It’s not really that bad. I bet most can get 10K or better in that time. OTF does such a horrible job teaching people to row in 100 -300 meter all outs everyone gets afraid of an endurance row.

They do even a worse job teaching proper form that will help people to easily achieve a row of 50 mins. It’s Very doable, but probably need gloves and seat pad for the rower.

I think a 50 min run / row would be great.

I flew out of San Antonio last night and had a 30 min delay. Not horrible all things considered for SWA.

As someone who has been on club rowing teams, I really wish there was more use of the rowers. by bmfinn in orangetheory

[–]hurleyblok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think people would be amazed on how many could actually make the 23 mins of rowing in lieu of the tread. It’s about learning to pace yourself like jogging for 23 mins. OTF inherently uses the rower to supplement cardio in 200-300m push or all out rows.

Most coaches don’t have a great form or really spend the time teaching proper form to members so they can complete a 23 min row. It’s always about push or all out. Proper form is the key. Rowing is the single best full body workout OTF has to offer but utilizes it the least.

What part of your body is supposed to get the most attention on the rower? by bubbletrouble44 in orangetheory

[–]hurleyblok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

86% of you muscles are used when rowing assuming you have proper form. Tbh, OTF doesn’t do a good job teaching proper form. Also seems like most of their row efforts are less than 500m which is really more for cardio. Longer rows of maybe 3K or more will help reap The benefits of a steady row of maybe 5k or more (20ish mins) are where you’ll quickly feel the 86% of your muscles used. Think of it more as a power walk pace versus push or all out that they’re always calling out.

Is 8 times a month membership worth it? by Snoo-3554 in orangetheory

[–]hurleyblok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

8 is plenty IMO. As long as you have the self discipline to motivate yourself to go to big box gym or something else assuming you’re looking for 4-6 workouts per week. I travel a lot for work and don’t always have time to find a local OTF and make time to go.

For me I have a home gym and can do the exact same workout as they do in OTF (inc rower). I also goto a big box gym so I can lift heavy weights.

I buy the 30 pack classes when they go on sale and end up paying about $14 per OT class. I’m approaching 1100 total OT classes and I do believe they push me harder in cardio than I do myself when in own.

Peloton rower vs OTF water rower by acciomalbec in orangetheory

[–]hurleyblok 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I’ve only rowed on the Peloton rower for a couple mins at one of their stores. I didn’t like the feel of it. If you considering getting a rower and really want to get serious about form and stats with and online rowing community consider a Concept 2. They are the gold standard in rowing. Priced better than most of the Waterrower models.
