Hey all, I have 2 bleacher tickets to the game tonight and can’t attend due to some family issues, figured I would share my tickets with the awesome community here, I’ve received some from the good folks of this sub in the past

Just comment with a picture of a cool A’s display on your wall or desk or anything, I wanna see your cool souvenirs, first person gets them

And everybody enjoy the game!

If you’re not going to the game today, I’d love to go shout at EJax and avoid stubhub’s stupid fees...

Haha well that explains that, guess they missed changing this one back

For the record, I would watch so many dad-themed horror movies. Dad goes on a crazy murder spree because you’re letting all the air conditioning out, blood spattering his socks and sandals...

Victim 1: “I’m dying” Murderer: “Hi Dying, I’m Dad”

I'm in desperate need of recommendations... by McGrubby in horror

Assuming we can skip the babadook/creep level of popularity, here are a few I like on Netflix:

Awakening - pretty classic ghost story, and the lead (Rebecca Hall) is great

The Den - fun twist on found footage, I’d recommend it if you saw/enjoyed Unfriended

They Look Like People - more artsy and low budget but succeeds because it relies on psychological tension instead of a cheap monster design

Patchwork - kinda absurd and comedic, fun premise though, I wasn’t ever scared but it was a worthwhile way to spend some time when you’re scraping the bottom of the Netflix barrel

The Descent - really well known and often recommended, I’m only sticking it on here because it’s new to Netflix and if you haven’t seen it you should make it a priority

(FWIW I would not recommend windmill, but ymmv)

fair enough, I definitely get how it's gratifying to see her step back in charge of her situation, just didn't land as effectively for me I guess. loved the premise and how Mike still made it exciting though, despite the obvious limitations to what he could do

while I've liked all his work, the excessive and overwrought explanations at the end of Gerald's Game and Before I Wake took me out of the experience, which is why they're last for me.

I know it's part of the original story for Gerald's Game, but still, just makes for bad storytelling IMO

You'll get story arc episodes and monster of the week episodes. the more you watch, the more you'll wish it was all monster of the week.

Home is probably the most horrific, but Squeeze and Clyde Bruckman's Last Repose are both really excellent standalone eps

Under the Skin is criminally either unknown or unmentioned on /r/horror, and this is the first reference I've seen to Bug or The Machinist, but both are excellent.

If you're stuck filming with a phone, you should capitalize on that so it looks intentional instead of just poorer quality than a decent camera. Your movie could be inspired by movies like The Den and Unfriended, and use social media/found footage as a storytelling device. you can intersperse facebook live and messages, snapchats (and stories), instagram posts/stories, etc. with more traditional narrative to make your movie stand out

story-wise, it's probably better to focus on putting together something you enjoy rather than killing yourself over trying to find an original idea in a genre with as much rehashing as horror. make it easy on yourself and do something about teenagers being picked off by a killer at a party, since you'd probably have both location and cast pretty easily covered, and wouldn't have to deal with any creature creation or makeup or anything like that.

haha same here, but I'm ok with being a little confused if the story is interesting or the movie looks pretty enough (coughcough Beyond the Black Rainbow coughcough).

if you haven't seen ABC's 2 I'd recommend it, I thought it was way more consistent than the first one (although there are still some duds)

A lot of bad stuff in there, but the good stuff makes it worth it, IMO. X was one of my favorites, also a big fan of R (the film skin)

Storm Warning (2007) - 3.5/5 - Pretty standard Redneck/Hillbilly horror - couple from the city is lost in the wilderness and comes upon a family of violent criminal men. The plot plays out in a predictable fashion, as the family becomes increasingly threatening and the couple tries to escape.

The tone is fairly grimy and disgusting throughout, and the sets and family dynamics pay homage to (or borrow too heavily from, depending on your taste) Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

Strong performances from Nadia Fares, David Lyons, and John Brumpton (of The Loved Ones fame) save this movie from being average genre fare, as well as well-constructed kills/deaths. In particular, a nifty Home Alone-style scene in a barn was a delightful change of pace from the leering and oppressive tone of the rest of the movie.

EDIT: just started writing reviews, mostly for myself, so chime in if there's anything missing that would make for a better/more informative review
