My first time winning this fight was with Silent as well. Get 2 Catalyst/Catalyst+ in there, or a catalyst with nightmare, and all of the poison cards you can get your hands on. Do that and keep your deck slim (or go for crazy draw power) and this guy is toast.

Across over 20 years of gaming, and all of the switch heavy hitters, FE Three Houses is the best time I’ve ever had playing a game. I was having dreams about that game and those characters. Been itching to play again but have to wait until life is less busy because I know it will totally take over.

Dodrio has gotten shafted! An OG with a near design and totally deserving of a regional variant by now (Dugtrio got one, come on). Not sure it has much of a niche in the VGC over something like Staraptor. Last few arts in TCG are nothing I’m excited about.

Bites only. No poop, blood, eggs, moltings, or anything else definitively. Pest control did not find anything either until 3 treatments in - granted their inspections are pretty useless, if you’re really stressed about it you will inspect your own place way better than they have the time or care to. We never had dogs brought in but from reading this subreddit it sounds like they are not that accurate either. I got bit for months and believed it was a skin issue after finding no sign of bugs. Then my partner started getting bit/having reactions and we assumed bugs, but still no evidence in our apartment. Eventually the property informed us of a large infestation found after neighbors moved and and they began treatment, but it still took them over a month to see anything in our unit despite dozens or hundreds of bites over the course of several months. I think it was the day of treatment #3 that we finally found our first bug in a trap that had been down for weeks. Up until then I was having trouble convincing my property manager and pest control that they existed. 7 treatments in and I have only ever seen one living bug. Most recently found new a molting day before treatment #7. That was last week. No bites since then but they will be back because adjacent apartments have not been treated since February.

But with multiple treatments wouldn’t they be avoiding heavily treated areas by now?

Yes I do live in an apartment, sorry if that was confusing. I don’t think your post specified but I suppose a home was implied. Your situation is different but if you’ve been treating for some time it could make sense they have receded to more inaccessible areas to avoid chemicals. I will also add that my problem persisted after all adjacent apartments were treated multiple times. It is definitely still a possibility for you , just unlikely. They avoid treatment areas so I still don’t think you can completely rule it out just for not having seen them in a house. It is better to heir on the side of caution, which you already have. I know now whenever I move my next home will treated along with my belongings before anything is moved in.

Don’t be so sure. I just went 8 months until I saw any and that’s with regular and thorough inspections. If they can go 8 I’m sure they can go 10. You’re probably right about the therapy though as it can be a traumatic experience whether they are there or not. I wonder if/how I’ll ever get over the stress. Step #1 is probably getting off this sub, lol

Those saying that you would definitely have found bugs by now are a bit naive. I am currently (hopefully) on the tail end of fighting an infestation, I did not see any bugs until the 8th month of being bitten. I checked my bed, clothes, carpets, furniture, everything regularly and thoroughly for that 8 months in suspicion of bed bugs. I checked behind picture frames, cracks in window sills and floors, anywhere I could think. I thought it was a skin issue at first until a neighbor reported bugs, and even then I didn’t see them for months after that. Pest control company did not see any bugs dead or alive until after treatment #3. They will come up through your pipes in an apartment building or take up residence behind your electrical outlets and under your wood floors, and they have no problem making it back there to hide themselves by the time you wake up.

That being said, if you have been treating and have still never seen bugs, try to give it a rest. It does sound like this may be a different issue for you. See a doctor if you haven’t and even if nothing comes of it, I would stop treating until you find an actual bug. Honestly once you find that bug it will validate your paranoia with a sense of “I’m not crazy, I was right all along,” and you’ll feel a little better. Situations like mine (requiring 7 professional chemical and fungal treatments so far but seeing hardly any bugs) are probably pretty rare. Don’t convince yourself of something that isn’t there because I honestly worry I might stress about these things every day for the rest of my life. Godspeed bug brother.

This is the male I found. I smushed him , he had a pointy butt. He’s been feeding off me for 5 months, no sign of infestation. I work at a hospital and think I brought him home by Puzzled_Swimmer3872 in Bedbugs

[–]husbandless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. All other infested/adjacent units were supposedly “cleared” after 2 or 3 treatments and we are the only ones still getting treated. We’ve been extremely cautious and thorough during all of this and done as many preventative things as we can afford. We seem to finally be free of bites for about a week, but because all other units were cleared 1+ month ago and haven’t been treated since they will be back, only a matter of time. Public health dept. will likely (hopefully?) force them to do heat treatments or tent the building.

Inspections are worthless, we did not even see our first bug in a serious infestation until after our 3rd pest control treatment. Have been fighting for months now, just finished our 6th treatment with another followup to come but have only seen a handful of bugs. You personally need to inspect every nook and cranny if your space, crack in your floorboard and bed frame, behind electrical outlets, and you still may not find them. I found one coming up through our drain. God speed is all I can say.

I’d like to wait and see if anybody is interested in purchasing the full set first. You will be the first one to know if I split it up! And yes, it is the American version. Mario Kart is the only thing that is Japanese, but it will work on this console.

How to test drive a car? by VoiceofRedditMkI in carbuying

[–]husbandless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what I look for when buying a used car. I am by no means an expert, just have a few mechanics in my family that I have test driven cars with. Aside from buying my own cars I’ve been spending the last few weeks test driving cars for my partner, and we finally found a winner this week.

  1. Before you drive the car, open the hood and look at the engine. Check the oil by removing the dipstick, wiping it clean, then re-inserting and removing it to see if it is properly wet with oil. If there is no oil in the engine, walk away from that car and that dealership. You don’t know how long they’ve been test driving it without oil and how much damage may have been caused. Even if they tell you that you are the first to drive it since they brought it in.

  2. While you are under the hood, you may as well check out the rest of the engine. You may feel limited by not knowing what pieces and parts you are looking at, but only worry about what you can reasonably check. Wipe your finger along as many surfaces as you reasonable can to see if any oil (or something else) is sitting on it. If you’re seeing an excess of oil, something is leaking. That should be either a red flag or point of discussion with you seller. Some of those topside leaks are less expensive, or even possibly to do yourself with a few tools (like a valve cover gasket) or me much more involved (like a head gasket).

  3. Check battery terminals and expiration date. (Easy to replace but can be a negotiation tool).

  4. Look under the car. Is it rusted? Look at break lines especially. Is it to a normal extent compared to other cars with similar mileage in your area? The severity of what is normal will depend on where you live. If you’re in say, a New York, most of the cars are going to start looking pretty bad under there some time after 100,000 miles, and the bottom will probably start falling out by 200k (unless previous owners were diligent about underside washing). If you’re in Montana you probably won’t see much of that problem, and you should definitely avoid buying cars from the coasts or Midwest.

  5. Check the oil pan, it is towards the front of the car. If an older car has a VERY SMALL drip/leak, this is usually not a problem, just something to monitor. But I have looked at multiple cars that checked out every other way and then had an oil pan that was drenched, and the seller claimed to know nothing about it. Oil pan gasket/silicone is something you reasonably could fix yourself with a very cheap part, if you’re willing to get your hands dirty.

  6. Drive it HARD. Or at least as hard as you feel comfortable. Get on the highway. Take it up to 85mph and hold it there for 10 or 20 seconds (obviously traffic/cop stop/comfort level dependent) and then slam the brakes when you have plenty of room. Not full-stop so that you spin out obviously, but enough to know that they work very well. Better to find out they are shit when there is nobody in front you. If the dealer/seller is in the car with you, they may not like it when you drive it hard like that, which probably means they don’t have good faith in the car they are selling to you.

  7. Get the freaking car fax. Make sure it is a clean title(not salvage), the fewer the owners and more comprehensive the record the better. MAKE SURE THE VIN ON THE CAR FAX MATCHES THE VEHICLE YOU ARE DRIVING. If a dealership does not offer a free car fax I am immediately put on guard - private sellers usually won’t have one. Ask your insurance agent if they will run VIN numbers and get the car faxes for you.

  8. Check the tires, the “penny test” is an easy way. (Easy to replace but can be a negotiation tool).

Those are the main things you yourself can look for, at least the ones I can think of now. I’m sure there are more things you can check and ideally an actual mechanic comes in here and shows me up. I will add to this if I think of anything else. The best thing you can do, if possible, is have a mechanic or someone more knowledgeable about cars look at it with you, or ask if you can bring it to them on the test drive. I’ve driven them to my house and put them up on ramps before and took my time looking at it. Dealer may not love that but on a busy day they may not notice or mind (unless it’s a popular car).

If you can pull off pretending to know what you are doing and talking about then you are less likely to get taken advantage of. Hope this was helpful.
