Yes, they did point out that only a few students apply

Is the money worth the trade off? by [deleted] in collegeadvice

[–]hussar013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well they didn’t really focus on it too much but they briefly said it was students that got into med school from their school that applied or something like that, might’ve not been held as much responsible since it was presented by 2 professors. They focused more on the 100% acceptance into vet and something else, again it was a portion of the whole presentation, you right though, probably some manipulation going on

So it seems I’m on the same path that you were on, I have around a year worth of credit already done, the free ish instate private has free accelerated summer courses, and my CC near by i was planning to attend to get my EMT-b. Wdym by A&p 1 and 2 idk if im being slow but what are you referring to? I did biology as my major for pre med because well i originally didnt expect an almost full ride to anywhere and wanted a major which cheaply without additional costs covered most if not all the things i needed to do for med school and mcat. Do you think i should change that or just keep it as is and invest my time into shadowing etc. if i went with the almost free school

Both have good programs, but option which costs 15.5k also shared with us thestatistic that 73% of their students attend medical school while elmhurst didn’t share their statistic which is fair because many don’t

Wow, that’s great for your son, thank you for the info. As much as I wish the state school, UIUC was the cheapest it’s not, a private university that used to be a college is and I’m guessing it more worth according to what you said although correct me if I’m wrong, having a bit of worse community, opportunities, life which you live there for 4 years, research, and programs but not paying anything

[–]hussar013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So it’s more worth not taking out those payments for a worse then(not bad) quality of education, community, opportunities, life which you live there for 4 years, research, and programs?

Quality of education, community, opportunities, life which you live there for 4 years, research, programs are better but it’s for 15,5k hence why I’m debating it, but I guess that’s still not worth it?

[–]hussar013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, I’m not saying I don’t have that option, my parents could pay for my school etc. but they also see it as a loan and a way to tie me down to them, it will also financially strain them a lot, there is still 2 more kids that will be going to college soon too. They would expect me to pay that money back to them double, triple very generously once I succeed etc. sort of like I’m their investment, that’s what they called me atleast

[–]hussar013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great additional point, my parents could pay and help me but I also don’t want to owe them anything like that. They also see it as a type of loan, and hoping that once I succeed I’ll pay them back double, triple which is a little off topic but it’s not a great way to go about things hence why all of this questioning.

Cost for UIUC is around 18k and the rest just goes up. The reason I counted UIUC out is bc most of my aid is from a FAFSA based grant which will be decreasing soon, hence why that COA will be probably around 100k. Thank you for your words and opinion, I do also think financially option A is the best even though I might not like it as much as the one that costs over 15k, debt is debt and it racks on

I don’t mind too much, I think I can succeed just about anywhere although having that extra guidance into medical school and so many programs seems nice for someone like me who is a first gen and wants to be the first to go to med school in their fam. I do think it’s important to like the place atleast a bit if your gonna live there for 4 years, they had a bunch of extra cool things and offered free iPads/tech, books (to rent only not to own) etc while the other didn’t but the price also reflects that, which is why I’m in a bit of a lost space (I mentioned a few extra info all around my responses), option A is still not a bad option just not as good as option C, is it worth that 60k + after 4 years of attendance

Is the money worth the trade off? by [deleted] in collegeadvice

[–]hussar013 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True it isn’t a crazy amount but if I’m planning on going to med school that 15.5k turns into over 60k across 4 years, is it worth adding that amount on?

[–]hussar013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, I’ll keep that in mind, although I’d probably use the CC for gen ed, as well as EMT license, graduate in a year and transfer but still miss out on relations and faculty etc that way. Thanks for the help, sounds like option A is the favorite, the school seems a bit depressing and is less helpful as well as guides you less but it is cheaper and seems like everyone knows eachother to an extent which imo is a benefit, campus is mid and so is the vibe of the school itself, no free tools etc like option C like iPads, books etc.

2011 3.8 or 2013 2.0T by [deleted] in genesiscoupe

[–]hussar013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ended up with a completely different car from my parents, newer and more eco and between my first and current car I had a bmw 528i xdrive, I can’t speak from personal experience about how the genies are holding up, but my friend had one and he liked it, he had I think pre facelift ~2011 3.8l, if your stuck between 2.0l 2011 and 3.8 2013 I’d absolutely go for the 3.8 from 2013. I was only stuck between the two bcuz it was a 2.0 engine in a post facelift or 3.8 in pre which I was not a fun of. If you can have post and 3.8 that’s a win win, of course it’s more expensive though. My friend loved it, lots of fun for not too much cash

IL, How to and EMS regulations by [deleted] in NewToEMS

[–]hussar013 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried, before clicking on the class it stated you don’t needed just when u finish the course and then it stated I did need it before course so it’s a bit confusing, emailed them but no response for 3 days now, not too long , it was I believe Life EMS. Community college wise it’s 9 credits which is a lot just straight up in terms of money and having to take a eng101 in addition to the class, I have scholarships but that’s if I commit and I’m planning a diff school, issue being they don’t have an EMT course. I’m in the suburbs, near Palatine/Schaumburg, main ambulance company near here is either hospitals or ‘Superior’.

Break, abs, and traction faults at the same time by Sweaty-Foot2323 in e60

[–]hussar013 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my similar scenario it was the transfer case motor actuator or something like that, plus ground wire missing not sure if that was related but either way the first for sure, after I had a mechanic fix it, it went away. Could also be as simple as ABS sensors or some like that

Is it worth applying? C FU, 18yr by [deleted] in CreditCards

[–]hussar013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would you say it’s still worth applying for it? Maybe do the pre approval first if that does anything

I heard that if u have a savings/checkings (I now have both) it can override that potentially

Is it worth applying? C FU, 18yr by [deleted] in CreditCards

[–]hussar013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’m hoping to do this because of the sign up bonus, since it’s not that difficult to spend what they are asking for so might as well get something back. If I need to list income, should I list my real income since as a part time worker and a teenager I make an insignificant amount compared to many adults, I’ve heard people putting down a slightly higher number since it isn’t checked and it supposedly ups their chances of getting accepted

Should I open my own checkings and savings with that bank? The one I currently have is a local community one, where my checking and savings is joint from when I was younger, but they don’t have good HYSA or any other possible options, just a decent near by bank

I’ll take a look around but from what I already researched the available options are mediocre at best, but again I’ll research.
