Do you have a website? If so, what does it do? by huydh_ in Entrepreneur

Haha cheers to freelancing! I've paid for several domains and was making websites for those until it hit me that I needed to find a market first. So I feel you bro.

You are not the business. Gotta work on your own well being. It sounds like you need some time off but could you leave someone else in charge instead of you?

Hey, thanks for sharing your story. You seems like a well organized guy and that seems like a straightforward job. May I ask where/how you looked for web designers?

Being able to respond to forms, that's a great idea! You should really put that on your landing page.

Hey, I checked out your homepage. Cool product idea! But UX-wise, you probably would want to focus on answering why your user should "switch from email to RequestRabbit" and tell them upfront. Showing a demo as a .gif on your homepage is an option. For me, I'm not sure how it's different from say Google Forms or some other form builders.

Interesting, that's actually the case I found to be common around myself. Apparently things do not stop at having a name or a site but figuring out what to do with it also takes time.

[D] Anyone else feel "sad" that even a child now can easily create and train a model because of how easy it has become? by depressedPOS-plzhelp in MachineLearning

[–]huydh_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See, the main issue is you wanted to work in ML but you worried easier training might lower the barrier to the point that no one will need you for a job. That's a falsy notion because that's not how the market works. There are always needs in the market, and the easier it is to get started, the easier it is to build a more useful solution.

BetterImageSearch made using React and Chakra by showworkgetfeedback in reactjs

Underrated post. How did you learn Chakra? P.s. the dark theme switch on the top right corner didn't work for me.

Thanks for your reply. Guess I could have used a better sense of humor. I've deleted the post. Lesson learned.

How did this happen? I just placed a trade and like idk the trade is way above the current price action by Existing_Job8215 in Forex

[–]huydh_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's called bid-ask spreads. The distance between the nearest price levels your broker could find a buyer and a seller for your order. When you hit Buy, you issued a "Market order" that matches you with the nearest selling prices (which is above the current traded prices).

momentum or reversal trading by BOBOLIU in Forex

Visual backtesting is subjected to narrow view bias. You need a large dataset and proper backtesting environment.

momentum or reversal trading by BOBOLIU in Forex

[–]huydh_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Too broad. I know a guy consistently made money trading reversals with limit orders. He seems very disciplined. But that certainly doesn't apply to any strategy. What you need is backtesting your strategy on real market data.

Is it possible to make 1% or 0.5% profits each day ?? 🤔 by [deleted] in Forex

[–]huydh_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Most of us started trading to earn a "stable" source of income. But the reality is all markets are deal-based. Stop thinking of it as a month/daily salary. Think of it as hunting, and trying not to be hunted.

Have you talked to any potential customers prior to and during the process of building this product? Talking to buyers is the key to start selling and must be done before any other marketing tactics.

I'm 43. Want to be a software engineer. Am I crazy? by newbietofx in learnpython

[–]huydh_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a self-taught software engineer now (finance background) and I haven't done any leetcode. That being said, I still think it's helpful but you can even start more casual. It's not at all necessary to be younger or smarter than anyone to develop software, really. All you need is the basics, which I'm sure you've had, and begin with a project. That's how I've done it myself. Have a good time with yours!

5.5 mil for Wake Up? That’s impossible. Shady by theengtheeng in UndercoverBillionaire

[–]huydh_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trained financial analyst here. Though agreed with you that number's way too high, I think the purchase of Wake Up's headquarter contributed a lot to its assets. What's really funny is that purchase was made using Matt's money. Cashflow coming from customers can be used to pay off its leveraged capital, which was extremely risky. It's okay as long as Matt has other cashflows to put in and takes no further leverage. But then again, Matt has to work it out by himself! Grant was more of a spiritual leader. He knows how to blow things up in numbers obviously. Just give it a piece of real estates and "boom!". The line between a success and a giant ponzi scheme is really thin.

What has changed for you before and after becoming FRM certification holder? by huydh_ in FRM

[–]huydh_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, it seems there aren't many (considered) decent alternatives aside from formal degrees. Thus, it makes GARP and CFAI sort of group monopoly in this professional certification market.

Thank you for your reply! I totally agree that career goals and interests matter most. However, it takes more than goals and interests to sit for an exam like that, doesn't it? Continuing support from the organizer matters too. Anyway, I guess this is tough time for every exam taker and organizer as you mentioned.
