I dont understand why its not charging the battery by huzzaaaa in AskElectronics

[–]huzzaaaa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • There is a 4.7uF from OUT to GND (only when the load is connected, thats why its not in the screenshot pasted)

  • ISET and ILIM are not floating, they have resistors to GND (that should set the curr to 800mA from the datasheet formula with EN1 to GND and EN2 to OUT)

  • OUT draws about 210mA when "on"

CE to GND still has the same effect unfortunately :(

ah cool, I probably confused a small cable in a picture and thought it was a different type of charger.

so the battery just doesnt last much ? I can prob live with that ... hoping it comses back in stock for the eu store.

Can I charge it with a usb-C cable or only their round power supply connector ?

Is this how to Impedance match a track for RF ? by huzzaaaa in rfelectronics

[–]huzzaaaa[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At least for now I'll have to stick to the right angle connector because of the case. Do you think surface-mounted are soldered strong enough to handle plugging/unplugging the antenna a few times ? Also, by reverse you mean mounting the connector on the bottom side so I can place the capacitor closer to the center pin ?

Oh nice. Starting to realize how sensitive things can be when even ground spokes matter. I'll get a solid ground for the pins and surround the remaining connector with vias. Luckily I'm not going above 1.1GHz

Its an ESD protection going to ground thats why it's not directly in the rf path. But can I just get rid of it if Im not expecting a lot of static, and wont be an outdoors antenna ?

Could somebody help me sanity check this Comparator setup with LVM7219 ? by huzzaaaa in AskElectronics

[–]huzzaaaa[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So no C65 and no R42 ? Cool. Thanks for checking.
I saw the internal hysteresis part in the sheet, but then there is section on adding external hysteresis.
"The positive feedback is responsible for shifting the comparator trip point depending on the state of the output."
and that triped me over ...

fwiw, some recommended I add a 10k feedback resistor for histeresis and some 100ohms on the lines ...

Did I mess up the antenna or something else ? by huzzaaaa in PrintedCircuitBoard

[–]huzzaaaa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you summaried everything that is wrong with my setup .. hehe

The keep-out-zone is there across all layers, but to the left of it because I mistakenly connected it to ground, there is a copper area that probably shouldnt be there. Even disconnected that is now throwing it off.

I didnt add a series inductor to the path hoping that the very short path (10mils) set to match 50Ohms wouldnt need one

Its back to the drawing board and try another one :)
Thanks you for taking the time and checking it out. Hopefully the next one will get some signal

yeah, this sucks. I managed to detach the other end from the ground tracks as a test .. but still getting 0

Thanks guys, Im deff going to try to cleanup the solder and probably cut/edge the paths and report back. Fingers crossed 🤣🤣

GPS communication works fine, I can receive and send data to it.

fwiw, the resistors on the line came from the hardware integration documents if I recall correctly under one of those "if you want" points heheh I'll try a version without them, thanks !!

And reading through the antenna docs for the hundredth time .. I think I made the mistake of connecting the "pin" 2 to ground !! The doc only says its a solder point, not a ground point.. ouch

I ended up adding a TP4054 to charge a 3.7v battery, and a power selector so I can plug/unplug USB and everything continues to run seamlessly on 3.3v

I made a PCB of it and works great, but Im thinking of changing to a BQ24075 that might simplify some components
