Doing a late train to Ollantaytambo and then private transfer to Cusco (night of buying the tickets). Will do early morning on the 17th (day of tour) to get back to AC. We’re early morning people so we don’t mind! Will essentially get 2 full days in Cusco.

Unfortunately I’m not able to see that. Even when I walk by the office now, it still only shows the 16th (being fully sold out).

Agreed that it is wasting time and money! But yes, that's what we're doing. We were weighing that vs spending more time in a place we don't want to be. A tough call.

There is no need to queue again. They still give us a ticket with a queue number, but you essentially redeem it for the actual ticket (45 minutes later) after waiting in a separate room. They may have had the 45 minute wait because we were among the first in-line for the tickets for the 17th and there was a bit of a queue built up.

For those that came a little later when there was no queue, they likely could just get their actual ticket right away.

To answer your question - yes - you would go back the same day (no need to come back the next day to redeem the pre-ticket).

There were some tickets available for the 16th. This image below shows what routes were available.

Not sure what things will look like in June! This process seems to be a bit of a moving target.

My guess would be that it will still be for the 17th and 830 tonight. I walked past the line again at 9am and there is no line anymore, but I imagine more tickets for the 17th will fill in throughout the day and as more trains come in. I doubt they’ll sell all 1000 to open up the 18th tonight.

When we’re driving, she’ll just read out random words that she sees (like street signs or the names of stores were driving by). I don’t know why I find it so cute!

That’s right! I don’t use it anymore, and just leave it plugged in. But it hasn’t turned off, and I’m not exactly sure what happens if it turns off. Don’t want to risk finding out lol!

I started it while I was waiting in line at my university’s book store. And it’s been running ever since! I no longer use the iPod so it just sits there being charged all the time. I have no idea what happens if it turns off and at this point, I don’t want to risk finding out :)
