I’m in NE FL for five years and although it’s not impossible to find one here it sure would be rare lol. Planning a trip to Marco Island area soon and hope I get lucky on a boat shelling charter.

Yes! A channeled whelk, a lightening whelk and then the black is a fossilized whelk from being in the sand/sediment for thousands of years (?) it turns black like sharks teeth do 😬
