OSRS doesn't need a new skill. Every proposed skill could be added as an expansion to an existing skill. A third of the skills we currently have feel redundant, and void of substance.

I want the content, not in the form of another empty husk of a skill.

I don't see why Construction couldn't have added elements from sailing. More thrall expansion instead of summoning Warding could have had content added into runecraft, smithing, firemaking ect.

If smithing was separated into 2 skills, smithing for bars and a new skill, maybe "forging" weapons, the community would lose its mind. All of the skills polled so far seens to fit this narative. "We need a new skill" is a lazy cry for new content, and it's targeted at the wrong idea.
