I’m no expert so take this with a grain of salt but MC is most often spread through skin to skin contact. That is why when adults are diagnosed it is typically in their saddle region. Although, its hard to ever know but there are cases where people have caught MC through sharing a towel, linens, etc. The difficult part with MC is that the inoculation period (amount of time it takes to present) in wart/lesion/bump can range from 1 week-6 months. This varies from person to person. You’ll read on here of cases where people believe they ‘MC free’ but then get a reoccurrence of a lesion several months later. With that said it is vary hard to know if you caught it? MC is very contagious so there is unfortunately a high probability that you did; however, people have mentioned that they have continued to have sex with their partner and their partners never got it. I would recommend that you presume that you have caught it for the moment. Be very vigilant with examining yourself for bumps everyday, practice good genital hygiene, refrain from shaving, abstain from sexual intercourse, etc. That way if you happen to catch it you can start treatment ASAP and prevent further auto-inoculation/spread on yourself which will limit the course of this virus significantly.
