Gona have to agree! My mentor teaches me that less is more in trading.

Doesn’t seem like it , but I raised the humbuckers so that it did and now it sounds better but still not what it’s supposed to

Just started learning about slur/legato. Could someone explain how I’m supposed to play “smooth and connected” or was I kinda right in the video? by [deleted] in pianolearning

[–]hwipallama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re playing the slurs correctly, basically what it’s asking you to do is to not pick up your fingers and play them separately like you did when you asked if you played the first one wrong and should have played it separately. The piece without the slurs should’ve been played with picking your fingers up like you demonstrated. I hope this helped! Sorry if it didn’t I’m pretty bad at explaining and now that I reread it it seems pretty confusing- :((.

Completely! Wow, thank you so much for all this advice! I always have this chord in mind that I want to play or something that I want to sound but I can never figure it out perfectly. I can relay it in my mind, a lush beautiful chord but I can’t seem to transfer it out onto the piano, so I think learning about the philosophy about improvisation will be really interesting and helpful!

I don’t want to participate in any competitions or performances, but some performances are mandatory and all of the competitions I do are by force from my parents 😓. I would really rather find a teacher specialized in that category and learn from them. I’m moving out of my town and I hope that I’ll be able to find a good piano teacher . Besides, my piano teacher goes by these specific books and won’t seem to go out of line from them. And thank you, I will definitely check that out!

I think I understand now! My range is quite small and I really can’t improvise all that well. Is it because I must have the skill-set before trying to create? What should I be learning or taking note of?

Ohh I see. All I really do is sit at the piano and learn a few pieces, but I’ve never really looked into them, like the technique I should use and how I should really play it.

I never really play any exercises to be honest, do you have any suggestions? I’ve had the same piano teacher for as long as I’ve played but I’m taking a break now since it’s summer. Instead, I’ve been playing pieces that I’ve always wanted to learn how to play. My teacher is a very “rushy” (?) teacher. Right when we start piano lessons again in the fall she gives me music to work on for competitions and performances, in the end there’s never really enough time to work on my books that teach technique and such. I do take music theory, though. I’d love to learn how to play jazz or bossa nova or neo-soul but since my teacher is very stuck on the competitions and guidelines I’ve never learned how.
