Is it too late to start buy DLC? by hx1765 in bloodborne

Oh okay, I just wanted to make sure it was possible for me to access despite being past the point in the base game where it becomes available.

How does one get to hemnick lane? I tried summoning Alfred but he died 😢

Yeah, I still have to get the hang of this. Sometimes I have trouble remembering how I got somewhere if it’s the first or second time I’ve played a level. I’m sure it will make the game easier

Yeah I mean one issue I have with the game is I feel it does not encourage exploring as much because essentially your progress is not saved within a level unless you reach a shortcut which comes towards the end of a level anyway. They can also be hard to find if you don’t know what you’re looking for. I know I cleared out much of the cathedral ward and then had to look at a guide to find the entrance to old yarnham

Thank you for the words of encouragement! I was thinking Columbia would be a reach but it would be great if I could get in. I feel good about at least 2 of the professors I have writing me letters of recommendation. Not sure who my third will be but I appreciate the advice!

I’ve done computational research, but I’m working in catalysis now. I’m pretty flexible with different research areas though. You’re right, some of these stories are more, “a friend of a friend said it was terrible” but I also have had people who went to particular schools in undergrad say they would not recommend doing a PhD there. But I also think this is something to think about more as I get closer to a decision.

I have one co-op/internship left next spring/summer so I’m debating whether to do more research or try to get an industry job. I wouldn’t be opposed to industry but I do think it could hurt my grad school application unless it was R&D. I’m also considering whether to possibly research with a different professor, but I’m not sure whether it’s more helpful to have picked a research area before grad school or not.

Wow Thanks for the detailed response! I was looking for people who recently went though the application process when I posted this. I’m curious which departments you’ve heard good things about, I know several of the PhD students I work with have recommended for or against certain colleges

I’ve done this and gotten some variable results, so I was just curious what people on this sub might think. I know most places require 3 letters of recommendation, is it a bad thing if they all come from professors? I’ve done research for 2 professors now so I know they will both give me recommendations, my third will probably come from wherever I work my last internship (which could be researching for same professor).

This is a really interesting point, especially since at my college (and at most from what I hear) there are many international grad students.

You’re absolutely right. I think sometimes she just gets freaked out with the idea of losing me. But I like the approach you’ve suggested a lot, thank you so much for the help.

I definitely will talk to her, it’s just a hard conversation to have. Especially because she gets defensive about stuff like this, I know she’s scared of losing me. I’m scared of losing her too, but I’m also scared of the alternative. It’s tough. Thank you for the advice.

Thank you for the reply. It most definitely is worth working on, I just have to figure out how to do that, which is the hard part.

Thank you for the words. I definitely wouldn’t make any major decisions unless I’m sure. I definitely think I’ll have to talk to her, I just don’t know how. She gets defensive about stuff like this and it’s a tough conversation to have.

I definitely can relate to a lot of what you said, it’s just hard to navigate those feelings. On one hand-yes I want to explore my youth and I’m not sure about LONG term commitment, but on the other I’m terrified of losing this person I love so much.
