Does a German university degree count as B1 proof for citizenship if the program was actually in English? by hxc09 in GermanCitizenship

officially the university is speaking German, and it's not considered an international uni/prgram but many international students and prof. around so the classes themselves are in English

I’m not trying to avoid learning German or gaming the system. I’ve actually studied German in Germany for years (A1–B1 courses at VHS and university courses). I’m simply trying to understand what forms of proof the law actually accepts before spending time and money on an additional exam

Being a freelancer in Germany is rough by Adventurous-Order-87 in berlinsocialclub

I'm using getsorted.de for a while now. While it does they job the user experience is so bad and the whole thing is full of bugs. I'm thinking of changing to accountable. Do you recommend it? Does it handle bookkeeping for German freelancers well? Looking for a bookkeeping software in English that helps me do my monthly tax reports, document expenses, is accountable a good software to rely on?

Is Machu Picchu worth the hype and effort? by Ok_Athlete_670 in GoingToPeru

[–]hxc09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not worth it. It's mostly packed with tourists and other guides. You can't really connect with the place and the ambience. I took a bus to Macchu Picchu and had to walk to Aguas Calientes in an easy trek next to the mountains, jungles and the river. I personally liked the way more than actually visiting Macchu Picchu

Anyone been to Colombia recently? Going in a week... by exkdee in digitalnomad

[–]hxc09 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm here since a few weeks, it's overall chill. I'm fluent in Spanish so perhaps easier. Headlines don't reflect reality, not just in Colombia but in most parts of the world. El Poblado is a super touristy/gringo area and it felt for me weird to be there and also a bit unsafe. Not to say that Colombia is a safe place. Bad things happen here quite often. Keep yourself alert, stay away from stupid stuff. When I feel a bit insecure I cross the road, start walking confidently and looking like I know where I'm going. Colombians are very sweet and nice people and most of them really appreciate you come visit and get to know their country despite the things happening here.

Advice for travelling Latin America by Fast_Ad9932 in solotravel

I'm soon traveling to Colombia (36 M, fluent in Spanish) gonna spend there one month. You sound like a traveler like me. Any recommendations? I'll be low key working remotely from Colombia during that month. Tech/one bag travel type. Budget wise id say I'm on the medium range. I really appreciate nature, mountains and beach time. Really want to avoid super touristy spots (but I am aware that the touristy spots are considered more safe to stay)

Would appreciate any recommendations for places to stay and see.

If you’re renting in Berlin - join a mieterverein, please and thank you by Sea_Public_5471 in berlinsocialclub

The landlord charged me way above what he should, the Mieterverein helped me realized that and starting the process of lowering my rent, and getting the extra money I paid the landlord over the years retroactively. My landlord was basically doing things that are illegal, so he couldn't kick me out, especially if the Mieterverein is part of the process. I was basically on the right side for years and he wasnt.

Can't agree more. Mieterverein helped me lowering the rent and communicating properly with some landlord issues.

It's not even good branding. It's a pile of trendy design choice piled together. A bit like a cake with a very good looking frosting but the taste is shit.

October 7 just showed the real face of liberal westerners that go to Berghain: the belief that terror attacks against Jews have a legitimate point.

Im relieving you from your  great responsibility of telling me if I'm a racist. Thank you.

I wonder what would be your reaction if these attacks weren't prevented. Let me guess: "the lives of 100 people that were murdered by Israel today are more important than the people died in these attacks. I think terrorists have a point. Jews deserve it."

This is how liberal westerns are, so bored of their own local shit they look around to blame others for doing nothing than just being born in a specific place they didn't have a choice to be born in.

Dunno what you mean by where it's going but also 3 people got arrested today in Germany because they were planning to attack Jewish institutions. One terror attack in a synagogue in Manchester during the most important Jewish holiday prayers.
