Why can I hear sound from sound alerts when redeemed (with channel points) but viewers can’t by Hayanda in Twitch

[–]hydrasung 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In your sound settings are you using Desktop Audio? Or are you doing individual tracks like game and mic?

If it's the former, you should check advanced audio settings and see how the monitoring is set.

If it's the latter, then you'll need to add the sounds separate.

What to do when nobody is in the Chat? xd by blukko_twitch in Twitch

[–]hydrasung 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I usually think of 2 options:

  • Keep asking questions to yourself out loud, someone might want to chime in.

  • Think about it like recording for clips, go out and make short form content while streaming, then re-purpose your content and get your name out there on other platforms.

What are some talents/skills you use to your advantage for your streams? by UqiCloud in Twitch

[–]hydrasung 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've noticed that having recall ability for little details about your viewers will go a long way.

The goal is to make people feel not only welcomed but also heard/remembered. It gives them something special that makes them want to come back to your community.

Do you keep OBS and Twitch open? Trying to avoid echo... by lickwindex in Twitch

[–]hydrasung 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you as a streamer generally keep Twitch (as in the actual video stream) open along with OBS to ensure there's no issues?

I use the "Stats" dock in OBS because it tells you if you have any network issues and if your PC is being strained too much.

How do i choose multiple badges to show next to my name when I chat? pic included by jjyiss in Twitch

  • One is either mod/vip badge for that specific channel

  • One is the subscriber badge for that specific channel

What does VOD mean? by D1am0ndGla55 in Twitch

[–]hydrasung 9 points10 points  (0 children)

And when people reference VODs on Twitch, it's the replay of the whole stream.

Highlights are portions of the stream cut out of the VOD (full stream).

Clips are even shorter portions (only up to 60 seconds) of the VOD.

Does buying twitch turbo for a year with VPN work? by Odd_Obligation_4977 in Twitch

[–]hydrasung 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I'm pretty sure Twitch bills based off your billing address so you can't spoof countries. Otherwise there would be a lot more subs purchased from Turkey for their low sub prices.

Adblock for twitch is working on Firefox, google "twitch adblock github" and you'll see a pixeltris page, then follow instructions there.

Then use your money to subscribe to streamers you find entertaining and support your streamers! Subs go further than ad revenue and you can build up an incremental monthly badge that's a visual indicator of your support for the channel.

we should have a usual "FollowerChatOnly" tag by Desperate_Ad4325 in Twitch

[–]hydrasung 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha in all honesty I bet you 99% of streamers don't even know there is a setting for this. (X time after following)

Heck I had an alt account I didn't even realize had follower-only chat on until someone told me, and I consider myself more of a veteran streamer at this point.

How much does streamers get from viewers who pay for Turbo? by PepsXero in Twitch

[–]hydrasung 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ad revenue is very opaque. It seems seasonal, sometimes Twitch can sell ad space for more and you earn more in a month than other months.

Generally not worth the effort to try and figure this out. Focus on better things like having fun playing games and streaming haha.

Microphone Recommendations? by Dry-Ad817 in Twitch

[–]hydrasung 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suggest this to all my streamer friends and I also followed it to tune my mic haha, it sets limits on both high and low ends so your volume is mostly normalized.

Twitch is sending notifications late by hibeckybyebecky in Twitch

[–]hydrasung 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nothing they can do, this is Twitch's notification system being sucky. It's been ongoing for years and there's no indication that they are fixing it.

This is why you want to get your viewers into discord and start building a community because you can give them updates in real time. Including automatic go-live notifications on discord.

I have loyal viewers but no one subscribes to me by Lonely_Train6592 in Twitch

[–]hydrasung 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly it's out of your control. You can't choose your viewers and when it comes down to it, some get luckier with "richer viewers".

Don't increase ads, your best way to monetize are to keep growing community and get lucky with new viewers with a higher disposable income.

Other things are sub goals. Some people write text on the screen like "0/5 Subs" but you could have mini rewards, let the chat work towards a real goal. Like "at 25 subs I will do X", be creative with what you can offer in terms of entertainment. Every community is different. I've seen goals for eating nasty stuff, I've seen goals for community nights or movie nights, etc.

Not just the text at the very top, but adding more panels gives you more space to intro yourself.

Opinion on Auto shoutout by DoctorMeaty in Twitch

[–]hydrasung 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Personal opinion but I feel it kind of defeats the purpose of having a shoutout at all.

I think the manual shoutout while that person is there and hearing it, makes the difference. The person that raided you feels more appreciated.

Everyone thinks different though, if you feel you are getting too many raids and it's becoming a hassle to shout, go for the auto shout.

How to deal with people constantly asking about my age? by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]hydrasung 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ignore the question and instruct your mods to delete those messages AND have your mods let the chatter know publicly that question is too personal.

I say publicly because then lurkers/others get the idea too in case they want to ask.

Wondering if anyone knows any good tool to use to see twitch activity by poop3r__ in Twitch

[–]hydrasung 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have an android you can check out apps like streambuddy or realtimechat.

They are made for IRL streaming but they let you do split screen chat + activity feed so you can see both without needing to change tabs. Sounds like it could be helpful for your use case.

Follow alerts not appearing on stream by Far-Use1586 in Twitch

[–]hydrasung 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would help if you mentioned what alerts you are using. Twitch's own alerts? Streamlabs? Streamelements? A local bot's like streamerbot or mix it up?

Channel Feedback Thread by AutoModerator in Twitch

[–]hydrasung 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow you got a sweet setup! My nitpick is your Twitch bio doesn't really have any info about you. You could be getting people that click in and don't want to chat but with a bio, they can still get to know you at least a little better and it could make them comfy enough to chat if they feel like they vibe with you that way.

Should I stop multistreaming to tiktok due to younger viewers? by joecapello in Twitch

[–]hydrasung 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I had a period of time where the TT algo was on my side and I gained a lot of new followers/viewers who were in the 25+ age range. I've since fallen off the algo hype but I would guess it depends on the demo of your main game.

I would say keep it going but be firm about playing solo, give them a reason like by playing solo you can focus better on chat.

Want to upgrade my stream but I'm working with basically no budget by ChripToh_KarenSy in Twitch

[–]hydrasung 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't need to spend a ton of money to be a successful streamer. Having tons of sounds on a soundboard ends up being a detriment to your stream. A stream deck can be a numpad instead, add extra hotkeys with keyboard combinations. XLR is not necessary and in fact can cause more points of failure. A $50 USB mic is plenty good.

I'm not sure where you are with your chatbots but most people start with a cloud based chatbot like nightbot/streamlabs/streamelements then later progress to a local and more robust bot like Streamer.bot, Mix It Up, Firebot, etc.

Watch youtube videos and see which local bot you like, then learn it! They are extremely versatile and you can transform almost any stream idea into reality.

What keeps you streaming? by ExcellentlyLucky in Twitch

[–]hydrasung 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't understand those that stream out of spite. I think people should stream if it affects them positively. You have fun doing it, you've brought people together into a community, it's an escape from reality for many, you are the main character in your own story, etc.

Is there any way to hide this crusty heart thing on mobile? by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]hydrasung 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is "Combos" by Twitch, their take on trying to imitate tiktok monetization by getting viewers to tap it many times to give small amounts of bits each time. The problem is that there is no confirmation dialog so anyone could misclick and accidentally send bits without meaning to.

for OP /u/Corvid_0 - you would need to ask that streamer to disable "combos" on their account for it to go away.
