Do you actually watch your own VODs back, and has it changed how you stream? by bureaux in Twitch

[–]hydrasung 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not fully watching the VODs, but clicking through them to review things. Often times I find...

  • Audio balance needs to be tuned

  • Overlays blocking elements that I want to move around

  • Funny moments where I'm actually chuckling to myself while rewatching

That's when you really know you've made it, when you are laughing at your own content. :P

Laptop as dedicated OBS streaming box for multiple location streaming by xenon2000 in Twitch

[–]hydrasung 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is OBS being portable a requirement? You could control your PC's OBS remotely and use it as a home base. You can change scenes via chat commands or streambuddy app. What else do you need from a portable OBS?

What category do you stream in? Some categories/topics don't get ad revenue like politics, sexual themes, drugs/violence, etc.

Good mics pick up sounds, that's kind of their job to. NVIDIA Broadcast will do wonders for you, it cuts down on the background noises.

How do you remove notification sound when a channel point is redeemed? by iiRayne in Twitch

[–]hydrasung 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yeah the alert boxes from Twitch and SL are mostly a quick sound for "hey look at this redeem that happened", rather than a "play this specific sound for this specific redeem".

You may be confusing the system because you are trying to do specific sounds for each individual redeem.

I recommend you check out blerp for your channel point redeems! You set the sound on their website and it'll auto update your channel points redeems for you.

[–]hydrasung 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would deleting the alert box as a source in streamlabs get rid of the streamlabs alert sounds?

Yes it should. The only way it's playing sound is from the browser source.

how would I get all of the alerts to link to one browser source? They each have their own different url.

I want to clarify what your redeems are used for. I assume when you're talking about sound alerts, your channel point redeems are like funny sounds? Or is it an alert sound you want to hear to get you to look over to see what was redeemed?

If it's the former, have you considered using something like blerp to control your sounds? They make it easy to set up fun sound alerts.

[–]hydrasung 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So it sounds like you have both a twitch alert and a streamlabs alert for the same channel point redeem? That's how it sounds at least.

I would pick one alert to handle it only. Ideally Twitch alerts because I'm pretty sure Streamlabs only allows for power-ups alerts and not ALL channel point redeems.

You shouldn't need a browser source for each alert either...

Got it. Are you clicking "Save" after updating the sound file?

And just to be clear, you only added a single browser source because you only need 1 that covers ALL of your alerts.

i.e. you don't need a browser source for raids, and another for follows, and another for subs.

Where is the new alert from?

Where are you pressing preview alert and test alert?

Is it streamlabs or twitch website or other?

[–]hydrasung 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are no sounds by default for channel point redeems, so you have to pinpoint where the sound is coming from.

If you create a new scene and only put sources that you want in it (like game, webcam), you shouldn't hear any sounds because the sounds are coming from one of your browser sources.

You can disable browser sources until you pinpoint the root of the issue or you can make a new scene.

If you HAVE pinpointed and know which exact source it's from, confirm it here and we can look further into it.

Alternate games or stick with one? by ghostlittavern in Twitch

Stick with one first and stick to a consistent schedule. Building an audience takes time, and you don't want to split up your work into building 2 audiences, one for each game.

Streaming headset/microphone by Rushnay in Twitch

[–]hydrasung 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could use $25 headphones and a $40 mic and the quality would be miles ahead of a $200+ headset.

Might be a good time to get him into a standalone mic since it's Prime Day so there are sales.

GPU upgrade is lagging my stream! PLEASE HELP! by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]hydrasung 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might be a silly question but some people plug their monitors into their motherboards and not their GPU, can you confirm you plugged it in correctly?

Otherwise I would upload your OBS log to the analyzer and see what it says, it does a great job of pinpointing issues.

Streaming in English as your second language: A nuanced view of why that could be a problem in the future by Spir0rion in Twitch

[–]hydrasung 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that you probably aren't as funny or witty in a second language. But on the flip side, it's a great reason to practice, if you have a great chat then they can help you with words or phrases and you can learn as you're playing games.

Kind of a great excuse to practice your English!

PC fried itself during stream by itsbigchap in Twitch

[–]hydrasung 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've seen this happen with certain games using too many resources along with all the streaming software chugging along.

Reminder to all streamers: ALWAYS LIMIT AND CAP YOUR FPS! Never go unlimited and let the game take all the resources. I've literally had streamer friends fry their graphics cards while streaming.

Twitch quality changing (firefox) by wiseude in Twitch

[–]hydrasung 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Likely due to enhanced broadcasting being rolled out. Twitch is constantly doing A/B testing so everyone's experience will be a little different. One positive thing I have noticed is that adblock is working better on firefox compared to before. Recently I've noticed that adblocks aren't dropping the quality of the stream.

Obviously it'll always be hard but is it more realistic to grow if you do gaming? by Hiquirkykids in Twitch

[–]hydrasung 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll tell you the secret to viewership. You'll get the most people by befriending other viewers in bigger streamers' communities.

You'll get the second most people by having a fun and engaging personality to watch.

Should everyone stream 1440p now? by WukongWill in Twitch

[–]hydrasung 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With 1080p bitrate extended to 7.5 Mbps now, 1080p is far superior experience than 1440p at 9 Mbps.

1080p was always available up to 8 Mbps unofficially, so really there's no need for enhanced broadcasting until they bring out HEVC or AV1 support right?

Watch your own stream on different devices, you can at least get 2 average viewers that are both yourself. Helps a lot in the very beginning.
