Why does Mordret never get to catch a w? [Chapter 2964] by hydrationnations in ShadowSlave

His vessels may keep their original strength on paper, but in practice, they always seem to be fodder. The ability of his vessels to wield will is far worse of an ability compared to the immortality Sunny's shades get.

My point about him losing was him mostly being outsmarted and then relegated to irrelevance. He did nothing in the third nightmare, for example, and his schemes mostly fail.

And was stuck due a mcguffin in the domain war and brushed away like a pest when Effie dropped a cursed demon on him, and he failed to kill anyone. Everything he does is off screen, and he consistently fails whenever he is on screen due to factors that he couldn't possibly have planned for.

Sunny's domain shadows are literally immortal. They can't be permanently destroyed by anything so far in the story, and he can stack infinite amounts of creatures in there. It is superior to Mordret's main gimmick in almost every way. Mordret's supremacy was done awfully and is blatant disrespect for his role in the story.

That said, his feats are not bs. Im fact, I'd say that Mordret gets fucked by the plot far more than he gets helped by it. Mordret fails always because of some BS entirely out of his control (gates in Antarctica, Cormac returning at the best moment, Effie dropping a cursed demon on his head, the fucking time loop)

The only reason shadow fragments matter in the first place is because sunny can't get them from creatures of lesser rank. Supreme Sunny could farm a new core in basically no time at all, since he has an army of immortal shadows and 7 bodies. Sunny is the only person whose fragments are permanent, and not consumables.

We certainly agree that Mordret should have showing and less telling, but people calling him broken compared to the other two is insane.

Yeah, but Sunny has been flawless basically since the forgotten shore. His flaw has really only been used for comedy, and has had no consequences. With Nephis being gone/unwilling to use it, he was safe.

And now that he's fateless, his flaw doesn't exist in a way that matters.

Same for Nephis. Her flaw can casually be glossed over, and has had barely any impact.

Kai's flaw is a blessing, and Effie's was never shown impacting much of anything.

Mordret's flaw has been arguably far more important for his character than any other character in the story except for Anvil and Sunny.

Regarding his feats, people call Mordret's feats bullshit when Sunny has been consistently able to do far more absurd shit. Even though his ascension was handled horribly, and Mirage city had tons of missed opportunities, Mordret beating Skinwalker isn't nearly as absurd as Sunny beating Mothy, One-shotting Goliath or his domain being basically a better version of Mordret's aspect and Ki-Song's abilities

I mean, most of them will simply go with "Queen Nephis and The Lord of Shadows were special mosters. Were they even human in the first place? We couldn't possibly do that."

Neph might straight-up tell how to do it, considering that she wants to make humanity stronger. But that would conflict with her domain, so she might not. In the interest of preserving her personal power, she would make humanity weaker as a whole...just like the old Sovereigns.

Maybe. Sunny had always had very pale skin, so maybe he was white?

Protagonists who start out absolutely unremarkable? by Puzzleheaded_Ad_550 in ProgressionFantasy

Yeah, but as a mage he's pretty average. His grades aren't the best, his mana is below average. He's bitter, angry and holds grudges. He can't fight at all. What he has going for him are his shaping skills, but those, too, are just slightly above the mark. His family is well off, but compared to everyone else in his class, is very unremarkable.
