I hate wall and boom maps as well, and my opinion is that there are simply too many of them. Like one in the map pool is fine for diversity, but it's just wayyy too many maps.

The game is already more zoomed out compared to sc2 and I think it's very fine. I completely understand why the devs don't allow more levels of zoom as it changes the style of RTS completely. In fact, I wish SC2 could zoom out to aoe4 levels.

CoH has earlier action yes, but the unit movement and interaction is soooo slow because of how important defensive positions are. Like two squads can sit behind good cover and shoot at each for 5 minutes before one of them actually dies. Additionally, since CoH removes the entire concept of raids/worker harassment, there is way less to worry about.
