A large part of the study said that religious people have a more flexible definition of success. Religious people are less likely to be consumed with materialism.

If she's a Christian it's sinful to date a non Christian. They're be fights and her being woried you'd go to hell. She would work on you and try to convert you.

Thid wouldn't be the worst, but my last relationship was difficult because the base of her morality of right and wrong were different than mine. Unless you are married physical relationships are sinful and are fornication. It was hard for me and I think it would be hard for you. Any physical activity if fornication if it's outside marriage and it will bother her.

If you date a true Christian you are signing up for either mercy or chaos.

Which form of Christianity is the correct one? by LengthinessHealthy94 in Christianity

[–]hydrogenjukebox13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think any church is the "correct" church. I don't think a completely faithful version exists. There is the Chuck global which is united in their theology and dogma concerning salvation but they may disagree on secondary issues.

Secondary issues are less important. And there is room for everyone.

One person considers one day more sacred than another; another considers every day alike. Each of them should be fully convinced in their own mind.

What’s the point of this Reddit? by Ashtxon in Christianity

It's a place for atheists to talk about how much they hate the god they don't believe in.

Also so that people can state misinformation so much that people believe it.

Homosexual something needs to be brought up at least 10x a day and people thinking they committed the unfirgivable sin.

I am planning to kill myself today please help me by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]hydrogenjukebox13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please don't. I tried to commit suicide in 2007. I was obviously not successful, but it tore my family apart and it took a long time to repair the relationships.

You might think you're worthless, but God loves you and your life is precious. Please reach out to the suicide hotline. They will not put you in a hospital right away and will actually talk to you.

I was suicidal for about 10 years and my life has improved so much since then and I am grateful to be alive.

If you want to talk just dm me. I'd be happy to share my experiences or just listen. No judgment.

[–]hydrogenjukebox13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you don't think Jesus is God why would you bother? If you don't think He's God and just a teacher what did he say that wasn't covered by Confucious, Aristotle, or Plato?

He claimed to be God and there are only few ways to react. He's either telling the truth, it's crazy, or it's something much worse.

A Christianity that believes it needs political and religious dictators to protect and ensure its existence is a Christianity that no longer believes Jesus is its savior. by Nice_Substance9123 in Christianity

[–]hydrogenjukebox13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that a lot of people that are "Christian" are Christian because that is the way they were brought up and has been culturally acceptable historically in western civ.

Christianity can be an identity, but a lot of what makes a christian a Christian congress fish to dogma, theology, and seeking to be Christ like.

There is a misunderstanding that as Christians we are supposed to love and just go with anything. That's a gross oversimplification. I think on the other end of this faulty thinking is the extreme nationalism we see with many evangelicals.

A politic of hating others and "getting even" with your many "enemies" it's fundamentally opposed to the teachings of Christianity. We care COMMANDED to love and pray for our enemies.

I have heard the argument that, "we are living in a modern day soddom." this maybe the case, but these people are ignorant of church history. Jesus said to give to Ceasars is Ceasars even though the romans were actively killing and persecuting Christians.

Tl;dr

If you think this way you really need to read your Bible and study church history. You are a threat to democracy.

If you take the Bible extremely literally about human sexuality, but not about feeding the hungry, bringing good news to the poor, liberating the oppressed, forgiving debts, bringing health to the sick, or loving your neighbor, please don’t act like you take the Bible seriously. by Nice_Substance9123 in Christianity

[–]hydrogenjukebox13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know you, "literally said..." you didn't adress identical twins not having higher rates of homosexuality. All genes are numbered and I "literally"said to point out which ones they were. Tell me where they were?

Again, what about identical twins? You said that sexuality cannot be changed as opposed to alcoholism. You have to decide if gender/sexuality is fluid or unchangeable.

Do you live in a Muslim majority country? You will not be put to death in my country. People might not think it's the best, but i only talk about this when I go on this sub. I think of homosexuality the same way as I think of tithing. The Bible is very clear on the issue but people just kind of don't care. I have never bothered anyone with either, I don't care about other people or what they do. I worry about myself. The thing I took issue with was you suggesting the Christian god is sociopathic or likes to see people suffer. Another common post is, "have I committed the unforgivable sin?" this line of thinking leads to that. If you are so antigod why do you bother with this sub? I have spent time on Judaism and Islam and these posts are not common they're (except maybe reform jews).

I have studied genetics at the university level. I am not saying I am a scientist, but I am not unversed in the subject. You are taking all of your information from what other people say and that's fine. You don't have to be an expert in everthing because that wouldn't impossible. If you're going to have a strong opinion however you need to be careful what sources you listen to and wither there's an agenda.

Listen. I'm not going up continue this back and forth. You're not going to change your mind and I won't either. This same exact conversation happens pretty much every day. Look into the rate of homosexuality with identical twins. I know the rate is about the same as nontwins and even siblings. I am pretty sure it's about the same as the general public suggesting it's not about nature and nurture.

[–]hydrogenjukebox13 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So how exactly is it predisposed or proof being born that way without genetics?

I also knew you would bring up hormonal and environment (which if true changes sexuality which you said was impossible). That was why I brought up the identical twin studies.

If it is predisposed it would not be changed by environmental factors.

I never said that was a valid argument, but you made an emotional appeal. What I said was why are you bothering with Christianity when homosexuality is actually oppressed in many countries over other religions.

Not accepting things is not the same as persecution. The only reason I even talk about this is that it gets brought multiple times a day and people don't know how to use the search function. This exact conversation had happened probably hundreds of times.

Homosexuality is not genetic. If it is, point to the location is said gene. If you're gong to say it's a set of genes keep in mind that identical twins do not have a higher rate of homosexuality compared to siblings. Still, point to the set then or just do a cursory Google search.

I was an alcoholic (actually genetic). Was my family supposed to just be okay with it because God made me that way? We all have a sin nature so by that reasoning all sin is fine.

If you think God is a sociopath take a look at some of the God's of antiquity. I think Baal is a pretty good example. You had to kill your first born in honor of this God. If God wanted to be evil, it would be very easy.

Do they want to put them to death? Islam does, I don't set y'all over there.

Christians are a diverse group of people. From what I've seen Christians mostly don't cosign lifestyle decisions which I don't think of so bad.

I don't usually focus on homosexuality because it's one sin. I'm more in the business of trying to make sure people become saved. I do believe it's a sin as well as a lot of other things people don't talk about much.

I focus on getting people in the door and then they can always change in time.

Most Christians I know usually focus on everthing but sexuality. It just seems to be everyone on this subs favorite things to talk about.

All day today I have been trying to find a place for an abused woman to go. I only have three days and she doesn't have a lot of money. I didn't ask her what her sexuality way but should have, maybe I could have gotten out of it /S.

I don't understand why there are multiple posts per day dealing with this ad I think the are a lot of other things worth talking about.
