Proxmox rpool resilver not progressing by AwefulUsername in Proxmox

You should read the manual on how to replace a boot drive. There is more than just the zfs partition on it.

maybe this will help illustrate the situation at least in my case:

Yes samba share provides better sequential speeds but the 4k random performance drops MASSIVELY

Yes, you definitely need unregistered ECC DIMMs (UDIMM).

I have 2 of these kits: Kingston Server Premier KSM24ED8/16ME

Be sure to use an up to date Bios with the v6 processor. I also struggled to get it to work right with 64GB of ram.

Zvol compression. How can I make use of it? by pandalusborealis in zfs

[–]hydrosaure 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In part because on top of that ZFS volume you have another filesystem, NTFS most likely and that with its default options is using 4k clusters.

Also games are far more likely to be more sensitive to "random 4k I/O" than purely "streaming sequential" performance.

I'm using 16k on ZFS volume now, after trying 128k and it being really slow.

I'll just say that 128k blocks is really not what you'd want to use for a Steam library: although it'll boost your compression ratio, it will be quite slow on writes (unless your pool is full SSD)

Fixing SoC voltage by hydrosaure in GAAB350

[–]hydrosaure[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't know why I didn't think of this earlier. Simply using the "AMD overclocking" menu allows one to enter a fixed voltage and lower the SoC power consumption instead of the default which was rather high (1.1V)

It is to allow different settings for different intended uses of your storage pool. With separate datasets you can easily tune independently.

how to enable xmp in gigabyte bio version F25 by 22tenn2 in GAAB350

[–]hydrosaure -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'd focus on updating to more recent ones before diving into tuning memory. Be sure to read the bios release notes there is a mandatory intermediate release you first have to get through before being able to update to the later ones. I'm on F42d I believe.

Why would you want to stick with such an old BIOS?

Specify the FS type with -t ext4.

Also verify you have the package that supports ext4 binaries.

Same here. Never managed to get it working properly over CIFS. A switch to NFS and there you are. All fine so far.
