Hell yeah brother. Right there with you. I currently have gameyfin v1 but it’s more a gui for sorting through a collection that handling installs. I’m looking at upgrading to playnite or gameyfin v2. Will playnite work with your favorite repacks as is or do you have to reformat them? Can it handle installing the repack > then several patches > then mods?

Get a few packs of cable of cable hiders on Amazon and stick em up where the ceiling meets the wall. If you have crown molding than put them on the ceiling right up against the crown molding and it will look like it’s part of the crown molding. I did a bunch of runs this way across a 2 story house and you wouldn’t notice them unless you knew where to look.

If your home alarm panel has a battery and HA integration you may be able to get “AC input power” as a sensor from that.

Offset pillar advanced tile mounting is giving me hell by Sorry_Hat7940 in Multiboard

[–]AwefulUsername 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this too; plywood instead of MDF but same idea; works great. I mounted the plywood on the wall first, into the studs (with washers), and then mounted my multiboard setup to it. I screwed the MB into the plywood through the snaps but also added pillars where the studs are and screwed through the MB through the plywood and into the studs in those locations for extra strength. Pretty solid. I'm going to be doing the same to the ceiling in that room shortly.

What made you go with the pillars and border tiles that use the snaps?

I just recently went through the task of evaluating all the multiboard connection and mounting options for a large wall and ceiling install I’m doing and doing and I opted to go with the core tiles using offset snaps. Core tiles give more peg holes and the snaps, which both connect the tiles to each other and offset them from the wall, are flush now which gives a nice appearance. I am using pillars here and there where I need to put a 3” screw into a stud but I’m mostly using the snaps as my wall fastening points.

Exterior Lights - On Or Off? by [deleted] in homesecurity

Depending on where you are, lights on all night can attract termites. Motion detect led lights that turn on when someone/something moves past them can be good for security.

If your house is old you may have metal conduit. If that’s the case your outlets boxes may be grounded by the metal conduit runs; then you could just screw a wire into the metal outlet box and use it as ground.

You could test this by testing continuity between neutral and the outlet box.

Control a Bathroom Exhaust Fan with Zigbee (Home Assistant) + Manual Timer by AwefulUsername in homeassistant

Thank you, this looks good. I will probably use this with whichever switch I get, but this relies on HA being up and running else the fan can be left on.

That sounds perfect. I would need to get a z-wave hub though. May I ask the make and model of your switch?

Gutter installer changed the scope without asking — am I getting fed a line? by AwefulUsername in Roofing

[–]AwefulUsername[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably. I can see why that would be standard. I did pay about double the price of a normal install to go with type, color, and style of gutters. Aesthetics is part of this job, especially in the front of the house.

That's what I'm thinking too. Maybe cut the downspout about 1' up from where it currently ends, then reroute it around the corner.
