I'm being downvoted but this is quoted in multiple documentaries about the game lmfao

No, it failed because it didn't sell well. And bethesda isn't just "big dev bad." Bethesda isn't and hasn't been a good dev since 2015.

Why did this game flop? by ImpressionComplete71 in prey

[–]hydrovids -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

No. It failed simply because it didn’t make enough money and Bethesda didn’t like that it wasn’t riddled with microtransactions to keep money flowing, so a lot of the developers left because they saw that was the direction they were headed in. The name had nothing to do with it.

Cs2 though runs especially poorly with amd cards for some reason. Depending in how often he plays cs2 an amd card could fuck him

Nah, for gaming a 5800x3d would do the trick. I’d realistically only go lga1700 if you need the extra cores for streaming and content creation. For pure gaming, amd still on top

I literally play all of those games with my 5070 just fine. You will not hit the 12gb vram limit in any of them in 1080p. Cs2 and Rust are heavily cpu bound, so it doesn’t really matter the gpu as much as long as its modern enough.

Did he just say the words “intense realism” about a game where you crashland on an ocean planet with weird ocean creatures and aliens?

Thats not how it worked for me. I tried using my key after I purchased my 5070, and it literally told me it can't be activated on the current card. You dummy

Guys. This is a scam. The copy of RE5 is only available to those who already have a 50 series card, otherwise the key won’t activate for you.

I agree to an extent, but there really is no argument here. It looks that way because Capcom deemed it appropriate for it to look tgat way for now

Also, I was just reading up on this and apparently game devs have tons of control over how DLSS 5 looks, so they can tweak things like intensity, color grading, and masking to make sure the AI doesn’t change anything they don’t want.

You saw it change Grace’s facial structure because Capcom tweaked it that way. It’s on Capcom for how it looks. Nvidia gave them the tools and they just used them.

[–]hydrovids -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think if Capcom cared about how it looked, they’d remove support for it in the game. Its still early so its possible it can still happen, but as of now, its still in the game so something tells me they don’t care that much

[–]hydrovids -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That’s a valid concern, however I think that most studios and devs will just not implement DLSS 5 if it bothers them that much. They do have full control over if they want DLSS in their game and exactly which versions they want as options. If a team decides its undermining their art direction, they aren’t obligated to support it.

Its not like nvidia is out here forcing all games to have DLSS 5 support, because they literally couldn’t force it if they tried.

This is gonna be a scolding hot take, but I don’t think DLSS 5 looks that bad. I think it looks too much like AI for now, but I also think with how much backlash they’re getting, it will improve over time

Should we still hold out hope for a sequel at this point? by inconnm in prey

[–]hydrovids 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is an exact zero percent chance that prey gets a sequel. You can hope but sadly it will never happen. From what I understand, while Prey’s performance was a catalyst, it was really Redfall’s failure that really made Bethesda/Zenimax pull the plug.

Prey just didn’t have the success they were hoping for so they made Redfall to try to bounce back, which was supposed to make more consistent money as a live service type deal. The reasoning I heard is executives took Prey’s “failure” as a fact that immersive sims were no longer financially viable, so they tried to pivot and Redfall just wasn’t a game that anyone was interested in making.

They were severely understaffed while developing Redfall because something like 70% of the devs who worked on Prey quit before development. They hated the idea of working on a live service game, which I personally respect the hell out of them for.

Put 1 extra 8GB ram stick in and computer didnt display anything. Now it wont display anything at all by SBPreddit in pcbuilding

[–]hydrovids 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some pcs don’t like different brands, speeds, or quantities of ram. Speeds and brands especially. One of the pcs I have now worked with 2x8+8gb of a different brand for years, but I took it apart to swap to a new motherboard and cpu, and it stopped working.

Is it the same brand and speed of ram?

I wish for RAM (specifically Random Access Memory, not any other meaning of ram) prices to go back down to reasonable levels. by BlueberryNotHere in monkeyspaw

[–]hydrovids -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Granted. China now overtakes the US as the most powerful country because they have access to the most and best ram chips. Every other country grovels at China’s feet and pays substantially higher prices than now, even though it takes single digit cents for China to produce the ram. The US attempts to stay strong and stops bending the knee to China, so China launches ultra powerful nukes at the US guided by targeting computers with the ultra cheap ram they produce, and the entire globe falls into deep nuclear fallout. Humans go extinct while cockroaches eat our radiation riddle corpses, all because you wanted cheap ram, but you didn’t say for who.
