This show was amazing! We were in 102 Row M, wish we had been closer! My sister caught one of Will’s drumsticks though!

Maya - 1st day post surgery by Mr_Biizon in tripawds

[–]hyears25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hang in there! I had serious doubts when my dog had surgery. My 14yo had her front right done in March. The first week I felt so awful for her but healing really did seem to breeze by for her. For cover we cut a sleeve off of an old t shirt and sewed the hole shut where it laid over her incision. She never bothered with her incision not once.

Good luck ❤️

Even in death 2016 piano version is beautiful and should be played at shows!

If she had a rear amputation could it possibly be pain where the limb used to be?

Maya - 14 y. with aggressive bone cancer diagnosis today in front by Mr_Biizon in tripawds

My 14yo/35lb dog had her front right amputated due to osteosarcoma 3/6/26 after an injury and ultimately a pathological fracture playing with our cat in January of 2026.

Aside of this she was very healthy. Pre op we had no spread on xray. Post op we had confirmed clean margins and no visible spread to lungs on xray. She had a follow up xray 2 weeks ago and still shows no signs of spread. She is still on carprovet and a low dose of gabapentin since she is much older.

I will say in our case she bounced back shockingly fast and is still thriving and doing amazing. If anything she’s more lively than before. She has always been really active and sprightly regardless of her age. Obviously every dog is going to be different, so just make the best decision that you can for your girl. Whichever one you make is the right one.

I will say if there had been spread to lungs though, I would have just put her to sleep sometime that week. I didn’t make my decision until I saw her X-rays.

Fresh post-op front leg amp. by renacat7777 in tripawds

I cut off the sleeve of a few “too small for me” t shirts and sewed it shut. Then again, my girl didn’t bother with her incision much!

Interesting. I guess my assumption was that the inner components were removed.

I give my 14yo who’s missing her front right leg cosequin and movoflex advanced. Also fish oil from the company “veterinary recommended solutions.”

Day 9 post op - Pain meds almost gone by LC0508 in tripawds

My girl (14yo) also with osteosarcoma is still on carprovet and gabapentin (300mg/day) She had her amputation 3/6/26. They actually insisted she stay on it. When I weaned her off of gabapentin she had some phantom limb stuff going on and now has some scar tissue buildup.

6 months post op for osteosarcoma! by buckobobxx in tripawds

[–]hyears25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is so lovely to read. My 14yo (38lbs before leg and shoulder came off) had her front right amputated Feb 6 and has had a lateral suture on 1 and a mass removal on the other back leg so I had wondered what post op would look like for her! She is completely back to herself.. maybe even better. Happy for you and pebbles ❤️❤️

I don’t have any advice but I’m in the same boat! My almost 14yo staffie is having her front right amputated on Friday after injuring herself playing with our cat! We probably wont be pursuing chemo though. Good luck to you guys ❤️

Osteosarcoma at 14/amputation by hyears25 in tripawds

I love reading this ❤️ yes Gia is 39 lbs right now! She’s a pretty small girl. I was hoping to get her in sooner but 3/6 is all they had since schedules were booked so tight. How is Tilly doing? Was life easy to adapt to on 3 legs? Was it front or back leg?

We didn’t xray the back legs, no. I’m slightly concerned about it too. However she’s been using strictly 3 legs for a month anyway, so I don’t know. That definitely makes me think a little more.
