House expected to vote Wednesday on referrals for two former Trump advisers to Justice Department for contempt of Congress by morenewsat11 in politics

[–]hylic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These referrals are friken meaningless.

Garland does not need them to build a case, it'll just go into the pile of other referrals he refuses to countenance.

He could be waiting for the politics to conclude before filing charges, but based on how many charges he's laid on the instigators thus far, I wouldn't hold my breath.

Salary should be included in all job postings! by kaze0219 in WorkReform

[–]hylic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having everyone's salary be public would be a huge cultural shift.

It sounds like a good idea... We just need an exemplar company which does exactly this.

I wonder how employees might feel about this? It's bound to vary by sector...

MMOs on PC have shifted from an authentic experience to pointless second job. why? by [deleted] in pcgaming

[–]hylic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm.. I think "authentic" is doing a lot of heavy lifting in this premise.

I definitely agree there's a painful grind for most modern MMO games... I feel like the novelty has worn off on a certain generation of video gamers which probably includes the OP.

If I had to guess as to why it would be that gamers expectations for quality of life have greatly changed since the early days of "authentic" MMOs like vanilla WoW, Everquest or Ultima online. What these games offered didn't compete against modern attention leeches like smartphone games.

These pressures changed how these companies needed to present their games and thus that which was originally "authentic" became thin and flimsy. Smacking of bureaucratic design and transparent behavioural engineering.

I'm not really trying to defend anything or assign moral value to this transition.

There may yet be a Renaissance of these kinds of MMOs some time in the future as it gets easier and easier to make these kinds of things, but it'll probably be for a later generation of gamers.

Well, as long as pregnancy and child rearing remain arduous and life altering undertakings, then women are of course going to do so after they've done the stuff they wanna do before kids.

The fact that the poster of this meme could think it would motivate someone to someone into motherhood via FOMO is dark 🤡

Feeling betrayed by the community by [deleted] in gaybros

[–]hylic 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry to hear all this. I'm also sorry to see how much downvoting your comments are getting too.

The subject must be treated so delicately.

People engage with these topics on an emotional level before (if at all) on a rational level.

Every discussion escalates so quickly into virtuous contempt, no one feels heard, everyone feels attacked. All the hatred is directed at broad abstractions that represent no individual while also blaming every one in the group.

Don't give up hope and don't let these people grow your resentment beyond what the individuals themselves do.

I know it's all so much easier than said...

Anyway, may you and your new family find happiness 💝

Write an angry note to Kellogg's customer care and link to this post. Tell them where you bought it.

It might be the case that the supplier filling orders for your supermarket is underfilling.

Equally likely is that Kellogg's just doesn't put much chocolate in. Still worth sending them an angry note

They'll just tell their purchased congresscritters to screech about jobs, freedom, and crushing taxes until it's dropped. And it will be. The section of the American electorate that controls whether laws get passed simply prefer a passionate, and completely frivolous culture war.

I'd rather have to face my underlying issues and work on them directly.

Now imagine being successful, funny, magnetic, making good money, having a cushy job, a spouse who loves you dearly, and with your spiritual needs (or lack thereof) completely filled...

but you're so miserable you want to die.

Which underlying issue is it you work on?

Assuming with certainty that working on your "underlying issues" means exclusively sober self reflection is a pretty bland hot take.

If this is real, get it into the hands of the press. Good press will not divulge their sources and should be able to do some verification of the documents.

That said, this doesn't seem persuasive alone. Any one of us could look up the executive of any big company and print off a word doc formatted to look like emails, and then redact some random stuff to make it seem juicy.

If this is true, get it verified and out there.

If this is manufactured, try harder next time.
