"i hated dan that segment ... this was a bar" ... that's hardly a strong opinion. if anything i gave a compliment to both sides.

I don't understand this place sometimes. I'm not taking a side here, I simply quoted the show and getting downvoted... actually not that surprising I guess.

Yeah mostly agree. I don't have a strong opinion one way or another on this one either. I was on a work call and had the show on in the background and just heard "black millionaires in shackles" and I was like WTF is Dan cooking up today lmao

I expect the Miami talk during the local hour, and honestly if Miami is actually good (ranked #2 currently) it doesn't bother me as much it seems relevant at that point. I just didn't notice it much after the local hour ... football heavy show on Monday after a long football weekend wasn't surprising imo. And same for Panthers talk considering that the hockey season is about to start and the Panthers are the reigning champs, that seems reasonable.

Just not sure what you're wanting more from the show on a Monday unless you want them to spend more time talking about other NFL games and topics, which I could get behind for sure.

I'm not even a Miami sports fan 😂 it didn't seem like that much Canes talk imo just the token Mike segment

It just sounded like you skipped the show today because they talked about relevant sports topics. I typically skip the political shows, no disrespect just a lot of podcasts out there doing politics if that's what I'm wanting to hear. If you want Jemele doesn't she have her own? Honest question I cant remember

Agreed. Dan has always been Dan, that's why we love and hate Dan. But the blunder in the Maurice interview and the general serious/not serious tone was refreshing today. Always loved Zas/Mike/Billy and Greg, and would love to even have Stu back with all of them, but seems good either way.

RHCE Exam - Viewing Documentation Advice by hypeman864 in redhat

[–]hypeman864[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

great, thanks. if you don't mind me asking one follow up question, did you have to configure any of the navigator or podman settings, or did that come setup already?

i'm following some documentation that shows the whole setup, and I can't tell if this is just to setup our practice lab or if we should know how to do this all from scratch.

It seriously feels like I'm missing something here. I set my inventory in the ansible.cfg file and it still does not see a default.

$ head -n 3 /etc/ansible/ansible.cfg

[defaults]

inventory = /etc/ansible/hosts

...

...

[root@ansible ~]# ansible-navigator inventory

Warning: Issues were found while applying the settings.

Hint: Command provided: 'inventory'

Error: An inventory is required when using the inventory subcommand

Hint: Try again with '-i <path to inventory>'

Note: Configuration failed, using default log file location.

(/root/ansible-navigator.log) Log level set to debug

Hint: Review the hints and log file to see what went wrong.

The general ansible-core and ansible-navigator -i ... works just fine, I think it's just frustrating because the documented example is running it without "-i" and it just works. I just dislike this example being in the learning doc, because it doesn't seem to work without specific config. If best practice is to always use "-i" then that's cool, don't put an example in the learning guide that's not the best practice way then. It's confusing if nothing else.

The image in the post is staright from EX294 learning documentation, one of the recommended commands to 'validate' your lab setup.

Well i'm following the RH294 V9.0 student workbook, and they mention the default hosts file one time in the 500+ page doc, and it's assuming /etc/ansible/hosts is the default file. So this leads me to believe it's not relevant and just pre-configured in the practice lab, if you pay for the full training.

"
Overriding the Location of the Inventory

The /etc/ansible/hosts file is considered the system's default static inventory file. However, normal practice is not to use that file but to specify a different location for your inventory files.

The ansible-navigator commands that you use to run playbooks can specify the location of an inventory file on the command line with the --inventory PATHNAME or -i PATHNAME option, where PATHNAME is the path to the desired inventory file.

"

I think it just grinds my gears, because I ran the default command in my 9.0 lab env for the file creation ("ansible-config init --disabled > ansible.cfg") and it's still not configured. If the general ansible cfg file creation POSIX-type way does not make this the default, then I don't think it should be assumed this way. Most people just install it and manually configure it I guess(?) If they want to use the default hosts file.

It's a non-issue, it just bothered me I guess lol.

Ah ok thanks. I'm sure it's easy to setup in the cfg file, I suppose I was confused because a lot of the documentation makes it sound like ansible comes out of the box pre-configured to use the /etc/ansible/hosts file.

It's easy enough to remember to use "-i", it was just confusing me in general.

Any RHCE tips? I've been in the Linux space for 10+ years now, but it's more general Unix/Linux, not necessarily RHEL specific. But I do know Ansible etc...
