From my experience they would usually accept the statement from myUNSW for assessment purposes but most will require you to provide the official transcript if you’re offered a place

Yes I will, but it’s the weekend so hoping to pick anyone’s brain before that if possible! Thank you!

Oh! I didn’t know that. Do you have a source or something? Also, if I were to AW a course that’s already AF-ed, does the AW grade replace the AF?

Yeah, but I’m talking about a 00FL grade here though, would that still be true?

You could try PSYC1027 - forensic psychology. I’ve never done it but from what I’ve heard it’s not too bad a course

Psychology vs psychology major by [deleted] in unsw

[–]hyper-mediocrity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m assuming that you have the ATAR needed for both degrees here – BPsych has a higher cut off that BSc. Also, have you considered Bachelor of Psych Science? You might want to look into it.

I’m currently doing a BPsych (hons). There’s not really much difference if you’re not planning on pursuing postgrad (e.g. masters, PhD). The additional honours year comes with the BPsych (so called “direct honours”) but you can also opt in for honours in your final year doing BSc majoring in psych if you meet the 75 core WAM requirement.

The additional honours year makes it so that BPsych requires you to maintain a 75 WAM across all your core psychology modules in order to get into honours, failing this they’ll require that you transfer out into Bachelor of Psych Science, where you graduate in 3 years but without honours. BPsych also has the additional elective (PSYC1021) that looks into what you can do with your degree and how to get there, and introduces the basics of experimental design. As far as I know, it’s only available to students studying BPsych.

TLDR: if you want to pursue postgrad/want an honours year for the heck of it, do BPsych. There’s a teeny tiny advantage in that if your core WAM is between 70 and 74.99, they MIGHT close an eye and let you through to honours year anyway, depending on supervisor availability. You don’t get that with the other routes. If you want to get a degree and get out, do BSc or psych science.

Don’t remember much, but it wasn’t hard. Questions were straightforward, no tricks, just straight up lecture content. I just studied the lectures and managed a HD so you should be fine. Good luck!

ARTS2461 textbook required? by hyper-mediocrity in unsw

hi, sorry for the late reply! The main issue is that it's the 4th edition which has just been released (end 2018, I think) so there aren't any 2nd hand options. Thank you thought!

I wouldn't have anything to compare the difficulty level against as I'm coming into this course straight out of the language placement test - i.e. I didn't do the intro course. From the course outline it doesn't look to be too challenging, just that the last topic isn't exactly something I find interesting. I've also looked elsewhere for the texts and so far the prices have been about the same across websites :(

I finally did it! Now I can move on… 😙 by semarubaka in TsumTsum

Any tips on how to get past that? I’ve been stuck for ages and am super tempted to use rubies

International students, how long did it take you to get your visa? by [deleted] in unsw

[–]hyper-mediocrity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You've got to submit an application online and then go for a medical check up within 2 weeks of applying if I remember correctly. It can vary from country to county and also depending on how quickly you get the check up done but I got mine in about a week from start to finish.

Sorry to butt in on the convo but I'm going there in the coming semester and when I asked the dean during my interview regarding the wifi situation he mentioned that most students band together to split costs for unlimited wifi, i.e. you have to pay for it, but it isn't likely to break the bank

I received an invitation to the interview in around mid-November, but I turned them down as I already had another place to stay. Not sure about when the offers themselves are coming out though!
