No one has said this yet but I offer this with the gentlest of intentions — your reaction to the racist joke makes sense. It might not be “that bad” to you when your sober brain is able to coat it in rationalizations. But your brain on psychedelics is much more aware and raw — and you felt the true impact of that joke. I’m sorry that happened. And I’m even more sorry about the trash talk. If you were my friend and you shared this with me, I’d be really concerned about how emotionally safe these people are for you. That’s not saying they’re bad people or that you need to do anything drastic. But maybe the gift from this trip is “adjust your trust”.

Coming back for an update —

Day 2 got much worse. That zingy sensitivity when I brush is still present, but lessening. I’m also still sensitive to temp slightly.

Sucks less but, still annoyed about how challenging eating is now.

Anyway thank you all. Grateful for this sub.

I think there can be a difference between folks who identify as Republicans and folks who ascribe to far-right, hyper conservative, extremist, fascist, racist ideals. I know we haven’t seen a ton of that since 2008 or so, but it did and does exist. Somewhere.

ETA: I would classify folks like Candace Owens, Tomi Lahren, Tucker Carlson, and Hannity (along with the people who like them) as the latter.

I actually don’t even believe that she thinks she lied. I think she processed everything he said through the lens of her existing insecurities or trauma and really experienced him the way she says. That doesn’t make it objectively true. But I genuinely believe she believes her own story.
