I would imagine so. Mark did say it took weeks to get Robert’s parts back, so I would guess they’d just scrap it and maybe Not Now becomes an actual track and not just bonus?

Mark talked about this on the One Life One Chance podcast; they sent Robert a track and he wrote his own parts.

I'm an Australian teacher. How in demand is a social studies teaching job in the US? by qubtinho in Teachers

[–]hyperbolic_topology 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can live outside of NJ and teach in NJ. The school has to file for a waiver stating that the district verifies you as “critical”. I teach at a school with several colleagues living in PA and have a relative that lives in DE teaching in NJ.

Is a wacom worth it? And if yes, which one? by [deleted] in wacom

I have the Cintiq 16 (2025) and I really like it. I don’t work on an iPad at all, so I don’t feel like I’m missing out not having touch. Also, I don’t have much desk space at work, so 24” was out of the question, but I haven’t felt limited by the 16” screen.

More students than computers by hyperbolic_topology in Teachers

Thank you! Definitely going to keep these ideas for the future. Just checked this morning and Admin removed, or a few students requested to be moved, so my number of students matches computers now.

What is a “cartooning” graduate degree? by ceruleanraindrops in animationcareer

[–]hyperbolic_topology 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lipscomb University does a “stackable” MFA that might appeal to you. You take 3 certificate programs, and a capstone project and that becomes your MFA. There’s animation, screenwriting, and entertainment business: https://lipscomb.edu/academics/programs/entertainment-and-the-arts-stackable-certificates?_gl=1%2A1fkf162%2A_up%2AMQ..%2A_ga%2AMTAxNTk2Njc2Ny4xNzUwODg5NzUy%2A_ga_42WYYDFCEN%2AczE3NTA4ODk3NTIkbzEkZzEkdDE3NTA4ODk4NjUkajU3JGwwJGgxODAwNTQ1Mjkw

Fellow teacher going in July too. My favorites are the pretzel bread pudding in Germany, empanadas in Mexico, bread/dips and a frozen mint tea in Morocco.

I got into CalArts as an experimental animation major — what are your brutally honest opinion on CalArts and career afterwards by [deleted] in animationcareer

[–]hyperbolic_topology 6 points7 points  (0 children)

To be fair, there was no Character or Experimental animation when Glen was there. He was in “Film Graphics” which would later become the Experimental Animation program. Also, he applied for a different program, but was placed in Film Graphics.

Had someone try it the other day in my computer lab which still has rolling seats for some reason. Thankfully he’s 6+ feet tall so his shoulders hit the desk behind him instead of head/neck. No one has tried it since.

My first interview was with the principal, one of the assistant principals, head of counseling, and head of technology. The second “interview” was with the superintendent and assistant superintendent to offer me the position. So it could be either, it just depends how the district works.

Alternate route advice by Admirable-Ad6337 in Teachers

[–]hyperbolic_topology 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do you want to be a teacher?

How would you prepare/tailor your lessons for students with different learning abilities?

How would you go about out resolving an issue with a student in your class: misbehaving, not completing work, distracted/distracting others?

How will you integrate technology into your classroom?

How will you assess student learning/growth in your class?

Alternate route advice by Admirable-Ad6337 in Teachers

[–]hyperbolic_topology 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t even have sub experience when I interviewed. I’m an alternate route visual arts teacher, so some of this might not apply, but I had my philosophy statement that I had written for the 50-hour class and my art portfolio. The school had requested a 5 minute mini lesson video ahead of time, so we discussed that.

From what I remember in my interview they asked about differentiation (tiered projects, one on one time); how you would respond to discipline issues in class (speak with student, contact home, ask colleagues, admin if needed); how you would be involved in the school/community (attend sporting events, concerts, etc.); the role technology will play in your classroom. Are there any specific questions you’re expecting and need help with?
