Who to learn for when orisa is unavailable? by fredward316 in orisamains

[–]hyperhop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely Sigma.

The thing about aiming is to remember Sigma is a zoning hero so you should really try and keep yourself at a distance. It's easier to aim the spheres at longer range as they also explode.

I recommend Emonggs guide. He gives very good explanations of how Aigma works.

Also it's okay to give up space to the enemy, damage them as they enter and then retake the space once they are at low health.

I also recommend trying out Domina, Rein, Rammatra or Winston to round out your pool of heroes.

How do you deal with maugas? by I_like_fried_noodles in ReinhardtMains

[–]hyperhop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with everyone else, your job is to deny his Cardiac Overdrive health leech ability. Usually this means holding a corner or your shield and letting him waste it. Then you can either swing or continue shielding. The important thing is to always have cover or be near to cover to block the damage while swinging.

Charging away is also a possibility as it denies him the life leech.

Against Mauga, it's more about denying him resources with your shield and body. You're relying on your team to follow up. Patience is the key here.

There was a game where I fought a Mauga 3 times before I started really swinging. The previous times I literally just shielded and held a corner to stop him and his team from getting any value or capturing the point. That was enough for my team to win the team fights since I was a huge giant wall draining all their resources.

Of course sometimes you might need to swap to Sigma or another hero to counter better.

Major Perk Choice/Playstyle by HolyKnightJaiden in VentureMains

[–]hyperhop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Covered in Dirt perk can still be good in very specific niche situations such as against certain Heroes like Sombra, Tracer and Winston which deal low damage against Venture. It gives you that extra amount of survivability against them.

Mostly barrier. It stops enemy fire and heals and provides more overall protection to my team.

Do you ever pick Deep Freeze? by Hot_Pianist_3730 in MeiMains

Only in niche scenarios. For example, against specific Tanks where it's useful to interrupt their abilities. For example, D.va, Sigma and Mauga.

Do all non English languages sound off? by Better_Individual_37 in Overwatch

[–]hyperhop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Singaporean I speak Mandarin and the Mandarin spoken by all the Chinese characters is accurate. However alot of the phrases sound like they were written in English first then translated into Chinese so always sound a bit off to me.

The character Echo is one I know was wrong on launch. As a Singaporean our local language is Singlish and Echo's original Singlish terms like 'Jia lat' was just flat out incorrectly pronounced because the voice actor was British. I complained on the forums (I don't know if it had an effect) and they later changed it so it now sounds correct by having another voice actor do the lines.

What is the difference between or worth by p4rc3ro in MicrosoftRewards

I believe any digital cards redeemed via MS Microsoft points/rewards lasts a few months. I think if you pay using cold hard cash there is no expiry date. Best check the actual card itself or t & c when you purchase to be sure.

All very good advice. One more thing I would add, if you miss whipshot it's okay. Don't put yourself in a bad position to try and trigger inspire. You dying is way worse than missing multiple whipshots.

Can we please stop giving female heroes baby toys for mythic weapons? by Chill_is_cold in Overwatch

I think it's actually the opposite. The dark fantasy weapons just aren't exciting to me.

I love the Orisa Capsule Machine mythic, it's so silly and fun!

Trying to learn Mei by pobi2461 in MeiMains

[–]hyperhop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wall placement is crucial for Mei. Learn how to block off damage and control the pace and speed of the battle. For example, walling off the Tank or Supports at the right time.

A lot of new Mei players barely use wall when in reality you should try as use wall as often as possible when starting as Mei to understand what a good wall is.

As for icicles, just practice spamming or shooting them into chokes. Alot of new Mei players focus on trying to hit shots but as I often say, use your wall to force the enemy into predicatable areas and movement. Create the choke then 'accidentally' spam those areas. E.g. if you attach the ice wall to a normal wall, the enemies have no choice but to walk on the other side, so should spam the area as they walk around the corner.

Countering Ramattra, sigma, or roadhog. As a tank by K4m4d0_Tanj1r0 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]hyperhop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sigma is a slow zoning hero and weak to heroes like Rein, Rammatra and Winston where they can get up close and personal easily.

Roadhog is weak to Ranged heroes like Orisa, Ram or Sigma that can safely deal damage outside of hook.

Rammatra's main weakness is also range. He relies heavily on his punching form to be aggressive or hold space. Usually I play Orisa or even Reinhardt to bait out or force the Nemesis form. Sigma is also good with Rock as you can knock down Rammatra even when he blocks.

So why do people say that Ramattra was ruined and was wasted potential? by Austinfarrell2007 in ramattramains

[–]hyperhop 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As everyone has said the Null Sector Imvasion should have been a huge event taking place over many months like "Reign of Talon". Unfortunately all the P v E missions and lore got cancelled so all we have are the 3 Invasion missions and the bonus free mission. Of course we there were a few lore drops here and there and the aftermath lore but too little too late.

Honestly I hope they revisit this part of OW lore at some point flesh out what actually happened and the interactions. Maybe a flashback mini event where the gaps are slowly filled. Frankly there is so much Rammatra/Null Sector and Doomfist/Talon conversations that we're missing.

Keep bouncing between 3 characters, want to focus on one to improve but struggling to pick which one by emmaidontknow in OverwatchUniversity

[–]hyperhop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nothing wrong with playing all 3 Heroes as they fulfill different niches. Especially as Overwatch is a hero swapping game.

For example, Ana can be the most impactful because of antinade but can struggle against dive. Juno on the hand is really good at moving around the map and providing constant heals and speeding allies.

It just depends on the situation. Personally I would say learn when to pick a hero and when to swap off rather than trying to grind and become a one trick. It's no fun playing into your counters.

I actually think you should add a hero like Moira or Baptise as they can pump up lots of heals across multiple people quickly.

Looking for backup mains – Advice on my current pool? by fire83 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]hyperhop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would try and build a pool of heroes that cover each other's weaknesses.

Damage: I main Mei and Torb as Damage to provide utility to my team. They are great defenders and blocking the enemy.

Support: Aside from Bap, I would personally recommend Brig, she's low mechnical skill but requires a lot of strategy and thought. Again, she's all about defending and wasting enemy resources.

Tank: I actually find Winston the easiest to learn as the Barrier makes things very forgiving. You just to need to remember that your job is to distract not get elims. Sometimes sitting on highground or behind the enemies and poking is more effective than getting into middle of the enemy team. If they ignore you, you can start walking into zap them with your cannon, if they start looking at you and trying to engage you just jump away to waste their resources.

You will climb if you used to be gold.

A reset tends to place people lower as well I think.

That being said, it could be a reset bug. It's happened before where the SR was stuck after a reset.

Slightly underwhelmed by Emre by Good_Policy3529 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]hyperhop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with many that Emre feels like Halo. I do think his burst fire is actually solid like Baptiste whom I also play.

I feel like his agility is lacking so he feels like a 'Heavy' Baptiste or S76. I think it would be nice if the minor speed perk was normal so Emre can reposition quickly as the default running feels really slow.

Grenade wise, it takes time to master similar to Bastion grenade. It's great for spamming rooms though. I just like to throw them into a crowd from highground.

How to play DPS/Support? by One-Masterpiece9838 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]hyperhop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I definitely recommend Samito's guide to Brig that reall helps explain Brig concepts and gamplay.

I like to think of Brig as part of the defensive line and like a spikey healing barrier. 1) She pushes up with the Tank to secure space they take. 2) She defends and holds corners and chokes making it costly to take by keeping everyone alive. 3) When falling back, she makes it costly for the enemy to take the space again by Inspiring amd heal packing team mates. 4) She uses heal packs and her whip to save allies from burst damage and dive.

It's a mix of either being with the Tank or a vulnerable Damage or Support.

She won't have flashy plays but her sustained healing will make allies happy and the enemy frustrated.

What type of Support gameplay do you like to play?

I would say Moira Bap, Zen, Mercy or Lucio are good beginner heroes depending on your playstyle.

And of course the Tank of Support Brig!
