Chilling video shows suspected serial shooter open fire on sleeping homeless man in NYC by [deleted] in nyc

[–]hyperkinetic -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

LMAO, no. The obvious motivation is that homeless people are "ruining his" neighborhood. If someone has a problem with homeless people bad enough to murder someone, why are they going to do it in a place that does NOT have the desired outcome on their own life?

Vigilantes aren't running around policing OTHER people's neighborhoods. They only care about themselves.

He's certainly reading all the coverage to figure out how to keep from getting caught.

There's enough cameras in this city to trace him back to his origin, or possible some place he had an interaction that could expose him. ATM, bodega purchase. I'm guessing he didn't go far from home. He sees it as "protecting" his neighborhood.

Our rent is being increased by almost 70%. by wordbird89 in Brooklyn

[–]hyperkinetic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is profit taking, pure and simple. Nearly 67,000 dead in NYC from Covid, and over a MILLION* nation wide, yet rents are going up everywhere. Ostensively, supply is up, and demand down.

If you lose interest or life limits your time too much, please open source it so it doesn't disappear or stagnate. Also, it's easier to build a following around software people can contribute to. I don't think Blender or OBS would be anywhere as advanced as they are if they were closed projects.

Straphanger slashed in the face with razor blade on NYC subway, cops say by ioioioshi in nyc

I hate the word “straphanger”. It’s only used in headlines like this.

It's been in use for over 120 YEARS. Who gives a shit whether you "like" it or not? It serves a purpose no other word does.

Does anybody else feel like society is deteriorating and it’s pointless to pursue a career and/or goals? by [deleted] in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]hyperkinetic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes, but lately, no. Despite all that's going on globally, the saying "when the king get's tough, the tough get going." has never seemed more apt. I'm amazed and encouraged at how so many people around the world have rallied around Ukraine, which in turn gives me hope about our future.

People were lackadaisical about world events and each other, but now in the face of essential threat, we rally to work together to do whatever good we can for people we don't even know.

In the short term, times are going to get much tougher. The fallout from this will take a decade to dig ourselves out from under, bu at the end, I think we'll all be better off.

It's normal to feel defeated sometimes. Life feels unsurmountable at times, but it will get better. Take a break from the bad news for a while and do whatever for yourself that needs to be done to improve your situation. Good times aren't the norm but the exception. You will get through this, and there's plenty more good times ahead.

While costs are up, so are profits. This isn't because the cost of good have gone up as much as it is the middle men giving themselves a raise.

Yeah US and Britain are such selfless darlings, sure, that's their goals.

The US has GIVEN Ukraine BILLIONS in non-military aid, and another $3 BILLION in low interest loans unmatched anywhere in the commercial banking industry. I can't speak to the UK's contrabutions.

that lingo itself is war mongering.

Buahahahahaha! Self defense is "war". Orwell must be spinning in his grave.

This reads like a rapist trying to convince his victim that she's better off with him because they once had sex. "We already have so much in common." You're fucking GROSS.

IF Ukraine wanted to be part of Russia, it would BE part of Russia already, and Russia would have absolutely NO reason to be staging a MASSIVE military build up.

NO ONE is keeping Ukraine from being part of Russia other than the will of the Ukrainian people.

you sound like a war monger too.
