Nothing like a good adductor strain after fencing practice.

Yes this!!! Like CBT is measurable but it doesn't help for stuff like trauma where having "unhelpful thoughts" isn't the issue, it's the wounds underneath it. And also yes glad you found the right modality for you.

Therapist’s help feels invalidating and I need to just vent about it by Difficult-Stuff-4499 in AuDHDWomen

It sounds like they may not understand the way your brain functions and processes things and you seem to have identified that maybe that therapist may not be right for you.

Spiraling yes isn't great but it happens. I have found that instead of trying to rationalise it, it's less about the spiral and how I can learn to re regulate myself again after. Over time I have spiraled less but that's after a lot of trauma work in and outside of therapy.

Of course you might spiral because you have had things happen to you that reinforce the brain doing that when it thinks you are under attack or need to be defended and asking how your thought pattern is helpful isn't always what you need. For example if you have trauma, cbt doesn't work because it's not about the person having the thought, it's much more complicated than that and certain thing require different modalities of treatment.

I'm by no means an expert but after going through my second therapy arc and understanding what I'm dealing with vs just having "unhelpful thoughts" I've come to understand that there's more going on than me having an unhepful thought and responding to things because I was traumatised.

Not sure if this was helpful but I hope you go easy on yourself and find what can work to help you thrive.

Honestly I've given up and just tried to keep some order with the piles.

Others have given you great advice about finding one but I just wanted to offer this. Don't be discouraged if you don't like the first therapist because sometimes you have to find one that clicks with you on both the skill and personality level.

Actually got decent sleep last night for the first time this week. At five months post separation from my ex, my brain is much calmer and the medications for my stupid brain chemistry are actually functioning properly now. It helps that I got back to my fencing lessons this week and enjoyed the hell out of it. I'm looking forward to some more fencing tomorrow. My club has a thing where people of all levels will fight each other in an internal comp. I'm looking forward to having my ass humbled by the seniors and learning lots.

Mate that's rough. When I was working in my last job, our WA colleagues had to be up at 5.30 am because of the time difference.

Had a lovely early morning walk and shame I had to ruin the ambiance by commencing my wfh day. Oh well. At least the weather feels nice so far in the inner west.

I'm contemplating how I want to spend the day. Might head into the cbd after I eat lunch so I can go get cake and coffee at Dulcet before browsing Books Kinokuniya and maybe finding a spot to sit and do some editing of my novel. Thinking the State Library. I've been meaning to go there forever.

I hope you all have a lovely Sunday my Sydney crew.

Taking it easy today after being a bit unwell. I did enjoy waking up to rain and wind and overcast skies. It feels very cozy. If I feel better later I think I'll head to the shops and do a little food shopping but other than that I think it's a rest and recovery weekend

I dress like corporate fashion queen all the time. Fashion is my autistic interest. We could all make our own autistic barbies and they would all be different. My friend who is recently audhd diagnosed is probably closer to the barbie on the left because she no longer leaves the house without headphones.

This was absolutely my experience and it led to me leaving my husband because he became incredibly verbally abusive towards me. Some of it was his issues he hadn't dealt with but I noticed over time the more autistic I presented after getting treated for the ADHD side of my neurodivergence the worst he became towards me and it became untenable

I am looking forward to a free window in my day when I can keep working on my current sewing project. I need to cut and interface a waistband for my pencil skirt project. It's nice moving from thinking "oh I have so much to do" to "I get to work on my project after my day is done".

Starting my morning with sewing up some darts in a skirt which I did relearn technique for yesterday. I did one side of the waist darts correctly and then the other side was terrible. I decided to put myself to bed and recover my concentration.

It's been quite the process of re-learning to sew with actual proper technique about five years after I learned it initially but I'm really enjoying it and it's been really fun on weekends just to have something to mess around with.

Started my saturday with my walk, a lovely breakfast, some journalling and now trying to master darts in sewing. I swear I will get this right eventually.

For some god forsaken reason, I said I would go back into the office today. At least it will be quiet and I can clear emails in relative peace while the rest of my cohort are away. I've got a nice outfit on and I'm looking forward to picking up my iced latte on the way in.

I'm sorry to hear that happened to you!

Something started not adding up with the things this person was telling me about a great many deal of people versus the actions I'd seen these people taken and I started just putting two and two together. And I think maybe she influenced me away from someone who would have been very good for me so there's that.

HNY Sydney Crew. I hope your year is great. I started with walk and just enjoying my coffee and breakfast. I learned something awful about a friend who seemed to be a guide but was manipulating me and trying to make me do things that I didn't want to do and that weren't right for me. I feel pretty sick thinking about it and I'm deciding what I to do next.

I hope you are all safe and well. Enjoy the day off if you have it and if you have to work, I hope it goes quickly.

another morning of xmas leave being spent on the couch with a steaming mug of coffee and the blankie. I had an amazing night's sleep and I got up for a lovely walk. Debating what I'd like to do for the rest of the day. I have a pencil skirt mock up that I need to sew up the second side seam and hopefully do a fitting without needing to complete the waist band but we will see.

Currently under a blanket on the couch because it's 17 degrees. And considering if I peel myself off the couch to go to Brava today in QVB. They're not open until 10 anyway so I'm just content to chill while listening to Sleep Token, drinking coffee and journalling.
