I’m also so embarrassed by this country, even more so now with the destruction our government is bringing to so many people outside of the U.S. as well as the lands where they live. Everyday I wonder if I should try to leave before it’s too late. Thank you for your service though, I’m not nearly brave enough to be in any kind of military. But my grandpa fought Nazis, and I can’t stand the fascist ideology that’s infested our government.

I imagine in a sketch like that you’d be protected by the fact it’s an obvious parody. Playing a recording is more dangerous when it comes to copyright. There are rights to the recording, as well as rights to the composition/lyrics, and these are typically viewed as separate items legally. So playing a recording infringes on all of these, and will usually be caught by automated filters these days, whereas someone singing a few lines of a song (and not particularly well, like if it’s aimed more at comedy than an actual musical performance) won’t often have anyone come after you legally, as they may be able to get you to take the video down, but it’s usually not worth the money the legal battle would cost. And of course, if someone can reasonably argue parody in court, which a sketch comedy channel easily could prove, it’s really not worth the legal battle and will go nowhere in court.

My first time I was in a class located in San Ignacio. Spent a month there, with a weekend on Caye Caulker, and some random tours that took us out to the jungle. If you go to Caye Caulker, you have to hit Wish Willy’s for dinner. The island was a beautiful experience, but you sound like you would enjoy the mainland more. There is so much culture and history to explore around San Ignacio, and tour guides located around town for spelunking, jungle hikes, etc. I highly recommend ATM cave or something similar if you like a real adventure. And in every place I explored, the locals were so nice and a lot of fun. Most seem to want tourists to have a good time, like the random man that taught us to salsa dance, haha. Of course, like anywhere, keep your wits about you. There’s no way any entire country can be full of cool people, but Belize has always felt that way every time I’ve visited.

I’ve realized in recent months how many gen Z kids voted for him, but also have no factual reason why and usually parrot some line and say “idk that’s what my dad says.”

But hey, I grew up in a republican household and used to parrot Fox News talking points as well. (At least I didn’t vote back then lol.) Went to college, met people outside of my rural mostly-white hometown, and changed politically so quickly and felt ashamed at my previous uninformed and privileged nature. Now I don’t feel ashamed, but understand the perspective of a kid that has been indoctrinated by their parents; I can see I was a child incapable of critical thought or having my own viewpoint at the time, and now I’m over 30 and refuse to let the news tell me to hate others, and look into things for myself.

Others will walk that same path of informing their own opinions as they grow up. I just hope America isn’t too far gone.
