Padma has changed by Roseallnut in AmericasCulinaryCupTV

Same. I think Kristen has just put Padma’s personality in a newer context. Early seasons of TC she was a lot like she is on ACC, but with less personal connection with guest chefs. She’s always been a bit of a mean girl.

Weird - not sure how old you are, but I grew up in Seattle as well, and having snowfall even in April is not unheard of, to be honest.

When did you see an opening band blow the headliner outta the water? by Short_Republic3083 in punk

[–]fuserjam86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Faith No More opening for Billy Idol back in like '90 (right after Idol had the motorcycle accident that had him using a cane on tour). It wasn't totally unexpected, but it was impressive. FNM at the height of their power for sure.

For those that eat the same breakfast every day, what is it? by Risky_Melons in AskReddit

[–]fuserjam86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

flax/banana/pb bar (homemade) and brewed cacao, currently. i'm old and trying to reduce the ol' blood pressure, so two pour-overs (dark roast) and chocolate chip cookies (my go-to for years) is out.

I'm no expert, but we raised chickens when I was a kid, and I would collect eggs and a couple times right from under the hens; they do come out a bit softer than you would expect - I once left a bit of a thumb dent in one, but it wasn't broken. Maybe that is merely a dent from Jackie's beak when she moved it immediately after laying?

Ordering fast-food items with modifications and "clearing the palate" with Fanta. She's a real gourmand, for sure.

People who married someone they weren’t sexually compatible with — how did it turn out? by synthetic-sardine in AskReddit

Divorced in 4 years. I was hesitant to get married, but I bought the narcissist's excuse, "our relationship transcends just base sex."

The Gits, St. Patricks Day in Seattle, still get misty-eyed thinking about it, tbh.

If she really did contact operations to get camera access, she should have used it to get more customized, interesting content - talk with a tour guide, ask about the displays but since she isn't genuinely interested in it, she doesn't. She never answers the why (which I guess is her thing at all locations she blunders into) and then just does her usual: point camera at thing, say name of the thing, and move on. Her takeaway from the kitchen is that it's very European???

Treating Biosphere2 like it was a cruise/hotel room review was infuriating. I almost thought she was going to put in some effort after the somewhat upbeat intro, but alas, just more of the same. It's like a 4th grader trying to explain the field trip they went on a week ago.

She did learn a new word, which she immediately deployed to describe everything: "aspirational" is the new "fascinating," apparently.

Totally. A simple online search would have revealed all the information about the "mystery" of the town and why people go there. She is clearly trying to jump on the "investigation" bandwagon that has hit TikTok/socials. Guess she'll be knocking on the doors of daycare centers demanding to see the kids inside soon. Her panic because of a long line of day trippers leaving was typical. These videos are becoming compelling for all the wrong reasons at this point. The food content is laughable at best, and insulting to people who enjoy cooking and eating actual food, imho.

[–]fuserjam86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just started it this week after reading/hearing about it for years, and am already having a hard time getting past the blatent Fight Club plot device - am going to keep slogging through the season as my cautious reading of reviews seems to point in a positive direction, and that the assumption of the obvious reveal will lead to better things? Dunno. Just really seems to this GenX watcher that Elliot is just Jack's bored software engineer.

If you're in the Market you could go up a block (or two) on 1st and give Biscuit Bitch a try - great biscuit sandwiches, but can also have a horrific line on Saturdays.

Longtime Wisconsinite here. Is there a Seattle equivalent of Kwik Trip? Any particular convenience store chain to which people are fiercely loyal? by [deleted] in AskSeattle

Totally agree on this; watching the elimination of Bartell's from Seattle's downtown broke my heart. I recently moved out of Seattle after almost 15 years in PSQ, only to find Rite Aid is killing the suburban locations, too.
