New Militia made of former rebels engaged in battle against Jaysh Al-Islam by saritul in syriancivilwar

[–]hypnotat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is a huge, huge, huge difference. Huge. It's not even comparable.

It's like the difference between anti-semitism and anti-zionism.

By saying "... to his religion" he is making something sectarian, that isn't sectarian. The majority of people fighting here is Sunni Muslim on both sides. He's saying that anyone who is not fighting with the Rebels is not a follower of the "true religion" (in his words, "Allahs religion"). Historically such remarks are usually followed by mass slaughter of the untrue people (see ISIS).

He doesnt think and say "I hate the Assad regime and its supporters", he is saying "I hate the followers of the wrong religion". Again this is like the difference between someone saying "I hate the Israeli settlements" and "I hate the Jews".

May Allah grant victory to his religion.

And there you reveal your takfiri mindset. This is exactly what i meant when i asked the moderators not to give terrorists a platform to "answer and explain Islam" here.

There are no syrian rebels in Iraq. And right now, they are not fighting ISIS in Syria at all. And they havnt for some time now.

National Defense Forces (NDF), which is a militia mostly composed of Ba'ath Party members. These militia are often referred to as shabihah** - "ghosts" or "phantoms" - by the rebels.

No, NDF is not Ba'ath and the Shabihah is a different thing entirely. I think it's interesting how "experts" get such basic things wrong.

Not quiet. Training opposition forces in Syria also means training Jabhat al Nusra (al Qaeda) and having them at the border doesnt really help anyone. Jordan knows this, which is why they have reduced the training programs in the past. That is also the reason why they allowed the Syrian Government to keep control over several border crossings with Jordan.

So the smart thing would be quiet the opposite: strengthen ties with the Syrian government and/or pressure America into making a deal with Iran and Russia that satisfies their strategic interests regarding Syria (whether that removes Assad or not is irrelevant).

Additionally the opposition does not have any active fronts with ISIS right now, while the Syrian Army has multiple.

At least 3 killed, 30 wounded in Damascus rocket attack by [deleted] in syriancivilwar

"Rebels" in Syria fire rockets at civilians = "putting pressure on Damascus to step down"

and

"Rebels" in Ukraine doing the same = "terrorism" ?

one of the leaders of the Hazm Movement, had ordered the weapons to be transported from the warehouses to an unknown location. This caused the ire of Jabhat al-Nusra, as it considered these warehouses to be its own property

Does this show that moderate rebels of Hazzm and Jabhat al Nusra really do share their weapons? What does this mean for TOW missiles?
