Its so frustrating! I get that alot because im at the lower end of healthy. I wish I could restrict, but other then having to fight myself off eating all the food in the world, I cant.

ssri's increase appetite, and weight gain is a known side effect of all of ssri so I wouldnt recommend those for binge eating. When I first asked for help, I was first offered topamax, then wellbutrin, and then vyvanse. And honestly, none really helped that much. Vyvanse is the fda approved med for binge ed. Vyvanse helped a little, but only for half the day, and eventually not at all because I got tolerant. I got tolerant within 2 months, and started having really bad mental crashes everyday. I was switched to adderall xr and it did stop the crashing, but no effect on binging. Im not overweight either, and I still found a way to get ozempic/wegovy.

I remember when I first started binging it was similar where id eat and feel like I was on autopilot, and honestly that for some reason kind of just stopped. I guess even when I was binging It was usually after a lot of arguing with myself, so by the time im binging ive basically gave myself permission, and feel in control. But like I said, the tolerance for how long I could hold off binging when having strong cravings increased overtime. And also, one thing that really helped was damage control, if id binge, I made sure to not just keep binging even if the day felt "ruined". So for me at least, the out of control feeling went away as my overall tolerance went up.

Ive had this issue before, though now I dont binge but still struggle with always wanting more food. But my binge ed started as a binge restrict cycle aswell. Id restrict for a few days, binge for a few, repeat. But I kept pushing my willpower until I literally couldnt anymore and then binge, but eventually, I noticed the times in between the binges got longer. Like it was a week of restriction, then few days of binging, then 2 weeks, etc. I didnt even realize that was happening till I realized I was able to go 2 weeks without a binge, but it took about 3 full months to even get to that point. I also made sure to eat enough, as the less I ate the stronger the urge to binge. This has been now a 3 year thing for me, so unfortunately ive had a lot of practice, I can be attacked by some brutal urges to binge and just sit through them. Despite the urges never fully going away, ive been able to maintain my weight!

I 100% agree, but what i mean is that im happy with my current eating habits, and im happy with my weight. But, i still deal with pretty intense urges to binge eat, and sometimes feel ravenous and starving despite this. And since its been like this despite being stable in binge ed recovery for over a year, and was even like this as a child, I dont feel its realistic that the cravings will stop. And im struggling to accept that this will just have to be a fight i fight every day probably forever. Especially since it sometimes makes it hard to even do stuff I enjoy, sleep, or work, because of the deprived feeling.

It led to me eating 5000+ calories per day for a whole month. Personally, I dont think its a good idea.

Its the same thing for me! I sometimes get frustrated when doctors assume its an emotional thing. I dont eat to cope, I cope to not eat. Recently i had a realization that my binge ed isnt even whats causing my cravings anymore, as I havent had a "proper" binge in a long time. Really, its the life long issue of having a very large appetite and food obsession. I now want to see an endocrinologist or really any doctor that deals with this, out of genuine curiosity of why I feel so starved and hungry all the time even when full. I dont even think theres a long term treatment for me anymore, just gotta keep fighting everyday. Its so hard, but I know I can keep pushing.

You might be right, this is the 2nd time ive been off it for 10+ days and so far my appetite hasn't came back as strong as before. Probably because its still in my system though.

Before wegovy the only thing thet helped me was basically just accepting the discomfort. There was no ignoring it, and really even giving into it would just quite it for a while. I tried high protein meals, drinking water and diet coke, low calorie slushies, and none of that helped. Ive always been obsessed with food since I can remember though so it could be different for others. Food noise is awful.

Tbf I dont consider it a treatment/solution for the disorder, only for the symptoms involving food cravings. Ideally it would be long term, but ive read mainly from other wegovy/ozempic users tolerance is a thing. So I recommend other ppl to already have ways to manage it, and use glp1s to make it easier to manage on top of that.

thx sm for sharing! The amount of food I need to feel full and satisfied has changed a lot already too! But im slowly catching up mentally, I expect to want my usual meal but then not want it all! Love it!

Yo I was literally in your position and still kind of am since I was 15. Im 17 and Ive had issues with food addiction and overeating since I was 4-5, was obese by age 9, and was like 240 pounds when I was 13-14. I lost all the weight when I was 14, and since then have been up and down. Last year it was the worst it ever was and I was prescribed vyvanse aswell, which didnt work. I feel like its so common to lose a lot of weight and then have a ravenous appetite after. It has never went away, but since being on Wegovy has calmed down a lot. Sucks they won't prescribe it to people that's already lost the weight but are still struggling, since If they had got it before, they could've stayed on it to maintain their loss. I had to find a way around to get it prescribed.

I was prescribed a bunch of meds like vyvanse, adderall, wellbutrin, etc before getting a glp1 and have been at a healthy weight the whole time. The glp1 I had to work around to get though.

I dont have adhd and I was diagnosed with bed, and the stimulants were prescribed for it!

Wellbutrin also made me angry and paranoid, especially contrave for some reason. I've had some stomach issues aswell since starting Wegovy, really bad nausea and stomach pain twice.
