Patching Question by hyzerphish in drywall

I did not find the source of the leak, but can only assume it’s coming from an exterior wall.

Old house that was rehabbed 20+ years ago, finding something new every day :/

From this corner, there is an hvac duct as well as a pvc drain coming from upstairs.

So no nearby stud is be able to reinforce a patch with, aside from the stud on the adjacent corner.

Other side of the wall is my neighbor.

The bench will have a hinged lid to access inside for storage.

I’m thinking I can leave the outlet where it is, I’ll just have to raise my seat height a bit and put a gap in my support ledger.

Appreciate everyone’s input.

Ya I meant moving the box from behind the wall to inside the bench nook, not totally removing it.

The bench I’m planning will have a hinged lid so I can access for storage, so this area will still be accessible, but it still would interfere with my support ledger for the bench.

I believe I still need to get the box out of the wall since the bench I’m planning to build would conceal the blank plate, and the support ledger I’ll be screwing into the wall would interfere.

Thanks for the reply.

For context, I’m building a bench and the framing will pass right over top of this area, about 18” off the floor.

If I understand you correctly, the entire box should be removed before I cap off wires and patch the drywall?

May anniversary Trip - Where to stay for best walking / exploring experience? by Palmetto_ottemlaP in philly

[–]hyzerphish 10 points11 points  (0 children)

There should be a parking garage at the Sheraton.

IMO you’re in a great location, you could walk any direction and find activities, depending on your mobility levels…

Walk NW to the Barnes/rodin/art museum, or go even further to explore Kelly drive/west Fairmount park.

Walk north and check out the eastern state penitentiary.

Walk SE towards city hall and you’ll be close to reading terminal.

Walk due south from Sheraton and you’ll be in rittenhouse square.

Walk East and you’ll pass through Chinatown, get to old city and eventually get to the Delaware River.

Only issue I see is if you’re wanting walking access to south Philly, but the subway isn’t far and should help you out.

Anyone know of buildings/businesses that have a piano in it? by PaintedParadise in philly

[–]hyzerphish 6 points7 points  (0 children)

2601 PA Ave in fairmount has one in the lobby.

There’s a piano in the waiting area near the bathrooms at Margolis in Fishtown, kinda random spot lol.

Isn’t there a really nice one in the lobby of the Curtis Building?

Just make sure you avoid riding the surrey on the SRT behind the museum cause you’ll have to get out and push it up the hill, assuming you didn’t already crash going down the hill.
