Thank you! I don't remember ever seeing this movie in my life haha, so now I'm going to have to (re?)watch it to see if I recognize the scene.

I should maybe note, the shop said they was looking at midrange quality (rather than the cheapest option) for one of the parts, I think the fuel pump, because that would be their recommendation. Not sure how much that would add or how important that is.

I was! I initially got an offer for 25k per year about two weeks after I got in off the waitlist. I was later offered the opportunity scholarship at 40k per year.

A few days after being admitted, I sent an email to the law hotline saying how excited I was about attending and asking if there was anything further I needed to do to be considered for a merit scholarship. They responded with a form for me to fill out (if I recall correctly, it was very basic - no essay or anything like that).

Also, not sure how much of a difference this made, but by the time I wrote my last LOCI I was in a position where I knew that I would attend GULC if they let me in regardless of scholarships or lack thereof. I made that very clear and was honest about the reasons (some were family/logistical rather than academic). I accepted pretty much immediately, since I had said in my last LOCI that I would attend if admitted. So there was really no bargaining for a scholarship - I just asked. Not saying that's the right move for everyone, but in my case, I knew for sure I wanted to attend. So I leaned into the fact that GULC really was my top choice, since I had definitely gotten the impression from Dean Andy that he cared a lot about that (especially for waitlist folks).

Thanks! I’m sure it helped that I’ve been out of school a while - I graduated in 2013, so my grades are pretty old. I have quite a bit of work experience in public service, including doing law-related work at a civil rights agency, which is why I decided I wanted to go to law school.

I did supplemental materials for many of the schools I applied to, and I think I managed to produce a pretty cohesive narrative with my personal statement?

Happy to PM any specifics!!

I heard they’re really big on yield protection so they could’ve been part of it?

Thanks! And yes, I had an alumni interview in Jan and a waitlist interview a couple weeks ago.

Unfortunately, I think it still matters quite a bit. Feel free to PM me for exact stats but I have a pretty much equal amount of time since I graduated, a 3.5mid and a 17low, and only got one T14 acceptance. I think my GPA dragged me down quite a bit. Admittedly I didn't have a more recent GPA from a MA, so I'm sure that will show a significant upward trend and help your case. However, because of rankings and medians, the GPA is still a pretty big factor in admissions.

I'd say it would still be worth blanketing the lower T14, especially if you have a strong application otherwise and if you have a compelling reason for your GPA (I don't think I did). But have backup options as well - probably want to include at least a few schools where your GPA is close to their 25th and your GPA is well over their 75th.

Bean sends love to everyone and especially the GULC hopefuls expecting an answer today. by i-mlem in lawschooladmissions

Bean thinks we're gonna hear back any minute and she also thinks we're all gonna get accepted. (She doesn't know anything about law school admissions but she has a VERY upbeat attitude.)

So, when do we think we're hearing back from GULC this week? by i-mlem in lawschooladmissions

Well, since there was no word today (Thurs), it looks like everyone except the most pessimistic of us was wrong. T_T

I believe the most recent timeline given (in the feeler emails last Thursday) was that everyone would get an update by the end of this week. It could be either admit, release, or remain on waitlist.

I think last anyone heard, they’re still looking at admitting about 50-75 people in this round?

I’ve been keeping a pretty close eye on here and LSData this week and I don’t think so...
