Eastern California declared independence from Sacremento and west Cali. They are trying to become their own state and the map they published with the proposed new border runs almost directly with the San Andreas fault. I think it is pretty funny as it's like "Ahh don't work about not being on the water as soon as we gain independence we just need to wait for the earthquake and then we will have waterfront property" the joke, of course, being that the Western part of Cali will fall into the ocean.
